Rie Miyazawa appears in kimono fashion show

Tuesday 31st August, 2010

TOKYO \

Actress Rie Miyazawa, 37, appeared at a kimono fashion design show organized by kimono manufacturer Suzunoya at the Hotel New Otani this week. The show is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and Miyazawa has been a fixture at the design show for the past 12 years. She posed in three separate kimonos of various patterns.

Last year, Miyazawa gave birth to her first daughter. Kimono designer Kiyoko Koizumi personally presented Miyazawa with a specially designed kimono in the spirit of gmiyamairih – a sort of christening of a newborn baby in Japanese tradition.

gI really appreciate this gift,h Miyazawa said. gI want to give my daughter many more beautiful things like it.h

From what I've read, the bright, colorful kimonos and hairstyles are supposed to make them appear young... Really young: their early teens. Head Scratch

Sounds like the opening scenes of this Taiga will require a bit of Suspension of Disbelief. Beaten

Couldn't NHK afford to hire some child actors?

^ I don't know why NHK is taking this route, rather than getting some child actors... Very odd choice. Head Scratch
