One thing I don't like about Kdrama is that their pace is slower and much longer. The theme is usually about family tragedy (like mean step-parents, mean sisters, brother fallen in love with the sister whom he dunno is her sister..etc..), if not, there's always the usual cliches of terminally ill girlfriends/boyfriends, a tomboyish girlfriend, etc... I feel that their stories usually just about people-people relationship....
whereas for Jdrama sometime to get something different... like there can be drama with theme on crime investigation, drama about a certain occupation in life and how the subject deals with the troubles he/she encountered during his/her work.... and one thing for sure, the Jdramas are much shorter and the pace is faster (except if there's a lead who talks like turtle...oops!) ... me personally is an impatient person....
and one thing...I feel that Korean actors/actresses have stronger and harder features (don't know if it's bcos of the surgery.. ) whereas the Japanese actors/actresses have softer features.... I feels the latter is more natural (though both can be considered as good looking) ... hence when watching them in dramas, it feels more 'real'... at least I don't feels that it is some superstar putting an act... _________________ **********************

Actually alot of people do. Im partial to jdramas for the most part. But there have been some kdramas Ive adored.
I think everyone should treat themselves to Dae Jang Guem for instance. What a remarkable series that was.
Anyone who likes melodrama would certainly enjoy the kdramas. The Koreans are even bigger into that genre than the Japanese. |
Yesh, I've noticed that as well. My sister seems to enjoy Kdramas more than JDramas for that very reason. I need a little bit more variety () hence why I enjoy Jdramas more.
Kdramas remind me quite heavily of Bollywood films, actually... _________________

Kdramas vs Bollywood films?! that's a very interesting view point...
but I don't see Korean actors/actresses bursting into dances halfway through the show. |
now that would be the day _________________

Ive liked quite a few out of HK. The First Emperor was a tremendous production.
Fascinating and extremely high budget.
Dream in Colors is another favorite of mine.
But it seems that Tiawan is much more active in production.
OT: WAtching one of each currently. _________________

LOL so true. Funny (scary) thing is that I met a Korean girl who said her bro touched her hand by mistake and she liked it a bit more than she should have.

It was wonderful in many directions. However it was some time ago that I saw it and I am flabbergasted that I can't remember if it was Japanese or Korean.
It was historical and about both Japan and Korean military. I would have to look it up to see who made it. Worth watching if you can find it.
The main couple (including the last Princess) eventually ended up in NYC and he died mid sixties I think and she died many years later.
I have the feeling that it was Japanese drama since Takenouchi Yutaka was the main lead. |
That's sounding like the series with Tokiwa Takako, called Princess Hiro. Wonderful short series.
I'm hooked on jdrama again. The Korean ones I checked out recently didn't grab me. _________________
