Cool. Smile After trying all three types of ramen I like their Sapporo Miso Ramen with the addition of the corn stir-fried in butter best. The ramen there is definitely tasty although I think they need to work on their chashu a bit. It's unremarkable when compared to chashu I've tried elsewhere. However, the miso ramen at Mottainai contains marinated ground pork instead of chashu which is delicious and works well in the dish.

Go forth and report back!

UMAIMONO FALL GOURMET FOOD FAIR

10/28(Thu) - 31(Sun) Torrance, CA Mitsuwa

Here they come! A full array of fallfs delicacies is waiting for you.
The well-known popular shops will bring their gchefs-d'oeuvreg from Japan.

First of all, the first appearance for this event, gTonkotsu Ma-yu Ramenh of gNantsutteih.
gTonkotsu souph is the essence of Nantsuttei. It is simmered for 24 hours and features rich, creamy and no distinct strong smell of tonkotsu soup. Another characteristic of the ramen is the secret gMa-yuh that is made by their unique method. Enjoy its perfect balance of Tonkotsu soup and Ma-yu with homemade straight noodle and tasty char siu!

EDIT: Ma-yu = Roasted garlic oil

good lookin~!

Right on. Smile

I've actually never been to a Food Fair at Mitsuwa to try any of the visiting ramen shops from Japan that are in attendance. Hopefully I'll get a chance to this time.

FYI, if you go there for dinner which I imagine is the case...they have several side dishes available which they don't serve for lunch. Stuff like kara-age, veggie dishes, and the like. I think they are written in multi-colored marker on the glass that sits atop the wooden counters.

This is crazy! This vegan photograher in New York bought a Happy Meal from McDonald's and took dozens of pictures of it over the course of six months to document the indestructibility of this mass produced food unit.

Check out the first photo and the last taken.

Dude the bread isn't even moldy. WTF!?!? That ish is crazy. I think they shellac the food before they serve it to seal in the artificial goodness of their food units.

I've had food in my fridge that wouldn't last 6 days let alone in 6 months.

It's not surprising then...that of all the fast food burger chains, McDonald's came in dead last.

While in J-town I stopped by the new branch of a famous macaroon shop called Paulette. Their macaroons are delicious. Just tried a couple.

Just saw a KNBC news story on these macarons... Apparently they're the hot thing in L.A. now.

Really? Thanks for the feedback! I feel vindicated. Smile I just took a box down to San Diego a couple of weeks ago as a small housewarming gift for friends that moved into a new apartment...and they loved them. Dancing

It's the same ish, my friend. Trust me I've eaten those before so I know your horror.
