I think before he gave her the money, Kengo was also a bit disappointed that she gave him the divorce papers. I think he's more sad about the fact that she's so determined to move out, be by herself. It made him unsure of her feelings for him.
that's my thoughts exactly. Can't help feeling so nervous and excited at the same time whenever I start streaming the new episode and watching the next episode's preview
I made a lot of caps from episode 8 HERE, and believe me, there are A LOT!
i've seen epsd 8 caps from ur LJ ..looks like so many Rabu Rabu scenes...can't wait to watch it _________________

Someone should make a gif of that epic hug!

that scene is really heartbreaking
both of them looked sad and disappointed. When Risa said "jya" before she got into the truck, Kengo just smiled and he didn't even look at her in the eye
I think both of them tried to suppress their feelings, it was simply because of money in the first place, little did they know that it would turn out in a different way.

hi guys.... good to see this thread here... i really love nagareboshi (my favourite from this season)....
there are a lot of subtle, sweet moments between kengo and risa that can be savoured over and over again (already watched episode 8 twice, and more to come)....
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
there are so many great scenes from episode 8 i don't know where to begin... it is obvious that both kengo and risa have started developing feelings for each other. feelings that go beyond that of what they started off with - 2 people binded by a contract. in fact, it is almost like the contract was an excuse for them to stay together (risa telling herself it is ok to stay at kengo's place until the operation is over)... and after the operation ended smoothly, they suddenly lost that excuse to be with each other anymore. and it is obvious that both of them were disappointed about that. when risa mentioned about moving out, when she handed kengo the divorce papers, and when he handed her the remaining money.... they didn't want to end it that way, but given both of their personalities, they couldn't come straight and admit their feelings for each other. risa's concern being that this family is too perfect for someone like her, and kengo... well, being his quiet and reserved self. the funny thing is, EVERYONE around them can already sense their affection for each other (mum who treats risa like her daughter, maria who had initiated that conversation hinting at kengo that she can accept risa as a sister-in-law, minako's words to risa 'i'll leave kengo in your care'.)
i think i rambled a bit too much, but anyway just to add, one of my favourite scenes from episode 8 would have to be when kengo was teaching risa how to ride the bike and she was yelling at him not to ever let go, to which he replied 'but at some point of time i must let go'... and how those words struck both of them suddenly, about their impending separation.
and of course, another favourite scene would be when kengo finally has his rare outburst of emotions, after cycling frantically following risa and then losing her car... only to find her again near the beach. the hand-grabbing-and-pull-into-long-hug thing really sealed this episode as my favourite to date : )

I love reading this. My rambling is even longer
there's just too much love in the last two episodes that every scene is worth flailing. The chemistry among the casts are great. Kengo-Risa-Maria-Okaasan _________________

Tinyamaki that gif is super awesome! I'm keeping that. Thank you so much! I have no idea how to make gifs so I really appreciate you taking up my suggestion!
I did not expect this drama to be so good either. Most of Yutaka's dramas have been so so and as someone said in his profile page, it was him and his performance that rose above the material. But this time, the writing's good, the dynamics, the character development and the chemistry ohhh the chemistry. I have never seen Ueto Aya before and was a bit worried about her acting with Yutaka but man is she a breath of fresh air for him.

I think Kengo's initial attraction to Risa was because he felt a brotherly protection towards her. I think the reason he chased after her the first time (when he said "Risa is my wife. This ends here") was because he knew she didn't want anything to do with Goro anymore. I think when Risa said "My brother and I don't have a relationship like you and Maria do" that struck Kengo hard and he wanted her to have a family she could depend on.
I'm rewatching the earlier episodes to figure out when exactly did he fall for her and I think it happened sometime after they spent the night in the car looking for Maria. The morning after when they reached the home Risa asked what's the point of staying in the house if Maria refuses the surgery and he said "I'm sorry I got you involved in my family problems but I'd like you to stay". He's made this clear again and again so when Risa was so determined to find a place, to divorce it just made him so confused I guess. They were both hiding behind the agreement, they keep saying "It's part of the agreement", and when that excuse is gone they couldn't find the words to say what they really feel. So much angst!! Which is what jdoramas are sooo good at I can't stand it!
Can I just say. I am so in love with Kengo. I mean Yutaka. I mean Kengo.

I initially watched this one because of Yutaka himself, and of course Goro (since I love SMAP and since he's playing a villain here). The very first scene when he was trying to stop Risa from committing a suicide had captured my heart, and I was like "OMG!!!! Yutaka Takenouchi!!!"
I was a bit worried with Aya-chan at first too but she acts soooo well here

to me, the very first he started to feel different towards Risa was when he saw the "different" Risa when they were about to meet Kamiya-sensei for the interview for the fisrt time. He was a bit taken aback, surprised to see the "different" Risa. It never occurred to him that Risa was actually that beautiful (the hair color must have made the difference I bet), his eyes said it all. That would be the trigger. And followed by their just-the-two-of-them moments, like when they shopped together, those dining room talks. In episode 4. I was kinda grateful to Maria for running away from the hospital because that gave them some moments to be together and got to know each other.
hahaha....I was like that too, Kengo...Yutaka...Kengo..Yutaka...well, I still am
Never have I thought I would be this so head over heels with this man. and he will be 40 next month (oh my fetish with Japanese older actors! )
just wanted to let yall know because I saw someone speak on it earlier... but I understand Japanese pretty well soo if you really need to follow something just ask ne God willing i will try n help

^^Thank you very much! Much appreciated.
Just wanted to say that Queerbeet's subs are excellent! I've been watching it on viki but today I rewatched the first ep with queerbeet. It definitely cleared up some confusion I had. Queerbeet's subs are clearer and makes more sense, somehow.

It's so cute when Kengo was sitting by the window in Maria's hospital room, drawing jellyfish. And then he got so embarassed when Maria couldn't recognise what he drew.
And I love the way he mouthed "Arigato" to Minako. The engagement might be over but the friendship remains.

I really love seeing Kengo-Maria interaction. It's really cute when they start to tease each other, right from the very first episode, like when Maria clings into Kengo's arms in episode 1 or when they "pinch" each other mouth hahaha...so kawaii
haha...yes, love how his mouth moved when he said that Thank You to Minako
and yay! I'm finally able to make a gif _________________
