Nice pic, 2nd attempt at this lost cause, trying to bring a heartbeat back to this thread ...Yui's b-day is not far away, going to turn 24, did a drama earlier last year, anyone know what shows/movies she may have coming up? Don't know if anyone has seen this, it's called ZOO, you can probably pick it up for $10 down at BB like me, 5 short movies, about 25 minutes each, they're all okay, no real thrillers but quite watchable. Best of the 5 by far was Yui's segment, Seven Rooms, won't give away any spoilers but we do see a chainsaw, here's a few shots from the film and a few from the making-of bonus.

Yui during her last birthday a few days ago.
Was hoping someone else would have remembered, am I the only Yui fan here? Not an a-list actress, yet, but has had some good roles in Zoo, H2, and small ones that were good in the Ju-on movies, also co-starred in Hotman 1&2 and Kurosagi among others. The above pic was many pages back, she turned 24 today, well for her it was yesterday...on to some pics.

You're not her only fan by any means.
The problem with being a Yui fan is that now we have to wait and see if she'll find that film role that'll let her break into the world of adult stars (and by that I mean grown-up stars) or if she'll chuck it all and take up a career behind the camera.
Sadly, as beautiful as she is, I've always had the feeling that she was too smart to be an actress. _________________

Yeah, I know there's fans out there, hoping to get someone else to post, it worked! You are right about her being smart, think her looks makes people not think of her that way. She did have that chance with a big role in Nana II, she was good, she wasn't the reason the movie wasn't good, perhaps that role hurt her. It's okay not being the BIG star in a drama/film, most aren't, let's just hope she stays real busy for us again!

Not much news here about one of our faves for a long time, she's now got the lead role in a drama currently airing, the details from Bionic:
Now in her tenth year since her show business debut, actress Yui Ichikawa (24) will finally take on her first lead role in a drama series. She has been cast as a doctor in the jidaigeki drama gKatsura Chizuru Shinsatsu Nichiroku,h being broadcast by NHK this summer.
Set in Edo in 1820, the story is adapted from a novel series by Hisako Fujiwara. Ichikawa plays Chizuru, the daughter of a doctor who practices Dutch medicine (Kenichi Endo). When her father suddenly dies, she continues his work, treating the poor people of her village. Ichikawa is also said to have trained in sword fighting for half a year in order to play the role.
The drama is set to run for 14 episodes. NHK has placed it in the Saturday 7:30pm time slot, starting on August 28.

Downloading Katsura Chizuru Shinsatsu Nichiroku right now, unsubbed of course but getting used to watching them like that, can do some shots later on it. Looks like it's doing fair in the ratings, started out at over 10%, dropped to 7+% but now back in the mid 8% range.

In between Rescue and Katsura Chizuru Shinsatsu Nichiroku she didn't appear in a regular drama but did quite a few guest spots, one of the was in episode 10 of Otomen. Think it was her funniest role to date, playing an idol like teacher who wasn't quite idol like it turns out, she was so daffy and funny, didn't know she could pull off a role like that so well.

Yui appeared on the Wan Nyan show on 11/23. Fairly lame show it is, the hosts make tea and they sit around jabbering for 25 minutes. Of course Yui looked great, also brought her Neko with her.

Watched episode one of Katsura Chizuru Shinsatsu Nichiroku, Yui plays a young doctor in the show set in Edo 1820. Watching unsubbed, missing a lot but it seems to be a fairly good drama, hoping once the run finishes it'll start being subbed.

I'm guessing that "Wan Nyan" is some kind of show about pets because the Japanese version of "Bow Wow" is "Wan Wan" and the Japanese version of "Meow" is "Nyan Nyan".

It's the only episode I've seen of it but you're probably right, they did show some pictures of their "house dog", would check it out more but it was so lame not sure if I could sit thru another 25 minutes of it.
I mean, look at these 2 hosts, tell me they couldn't cure any insomnia, there's a reason why the guests are served hi-octane tea.

Some Yui pics from Tokujo Kabachi, she appeared in episode 8 as someone who was sexually harassed at work, the guy was going to get away with it but right at the end our 2 heroes came to save the day and get justice for her.

Couple shots of Yui from the guest spot she did in the 2009 drama, Love Game. It's a show where if they can do the 'love challenge' they win 100 million yen, there was only one winner in the whole series and sadly Yui wasn't one of them.

Yay, Yui-nyan turned 25 today, looks like she's making a nice comeback with her latest drama, let's hope she can keep it up. These b-day pics are a bit dated, from many pages back.

Yui Ichikawa stars in drama "Muscle Girl!" with FTIsland vocalist Lee Hong Ki
Sun, February 13, 2011 (7:04pm EST)
Actress Yui Ichikawa (25) has been chosen to star in the TBS drama series "Muscle Girl!" this spring. Her co-star will be FTIsland vocalist Lee Hong Ki (20), making his first appearance in a Japanese drama.
Ichikawa plays the part of Azusa, the only child of the owner of a small female pro wrestling organization. After her father dies of illness, she has to take over the business, which is already losing money and is on the verge of shutting down. To make things worse, their referee suddenly disappears on the day of one of their shows, leaving behind only a resignation letter. The desperate Azusa then runs into a young Korean man (Lee). She persuades him to serve as a referee just for that day, though she doesn't realize he is actually a popular star in Korea.
While the show will be about Azusa's struggle to turn the organization around, it is said that there will also be an element of romance between the two leads.
The wrestling scenes will be done with the help of two female pro wrestling groups, JWP and Ice Ribbon.
FTIsland will be providing the show's theme song, though the title is currently unknown. The show will run for 10 episodes in a late-night time slot, starting in April.
