Wow, there's already a Wiki entry for the Sendai Earthquake: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Sendai_earthquake_and_tsunami Sweat

The situation with the nuclear power plants is worrying, hope they will have it figured out and under control soon.

They're saying the blast occured because some walls fell down, they say the reactor is safe, but they have widened the evacuation area around the plant.

Gosh....it reminds me of the movie, "Sinking of Japan". I hope the cold compressors from the US could reach the nuclear plants quickly.

perhaps some of us will recall the frequent earthquake alerts on the top of the TV screen when we watch Jdoramas. I thought these alerts started getting more frequent since last year. At the beginning of this year, it became a weekly affair.

The worst part of it is the aftershocks. It delays any recovery from PTSD. I remember my experience having to catch only 4hrs sleep for over a week because I woke up every time i hear the window grilles shaking. And I just couldn't decide whether to act or not to act. Bang Head

ERH.....HOW DID THAT GOZILLA PIX GOT UP THERE???

I learnt about tsunami and whirlpools when i was a kid. It wasn't an important topic during school exam and neither were these phenomenon popular topics in school projects because we couldn't find photographs or modern accounts of a tsunami or whirlpool. The best representative was a Hokusai's painting of a tsunami.

How things have changed. Terrifying to watch it 'live' on tv Sweat

Indeed. With the fifth strongest earthquake in recorded human history I can see why.

Sheesh! I saw a graphic yesterday that said this earthquake was 900 times worse than the Loma Prieta quake in '89. 90 times worse than the 1906 quake that destroyed San Francisco.

And this was only the 5th worst quake in recorded history?

Thank google I wasn"t any where near those other four.

No need for an alarm when the planet starts rumbling and speeds up by 1.6 microseconds. Sweat

Japan's earthquake, one of the largest ever recorded, appears to have moved the main island by about 2.4 metres, the US Geological Survey (USGS) says.

The death toll from Japan's devastating earthquake and tsunami is likely to exceed 10,000 in Miyagi Prefecture alone, its police chief says.

Still watching the NHK news reports.

They've been interviewing survivors... Some are parents who have lost their children from the initial wave of water...

Heartbreaking. Puppy Dog Eyes
