Some of my add-ons aren't compatible, so I'm holding off upgrading.

That's what I was afraid of... I think I'll try it out on my download/BT PC before installing it on my main one.

Beem, let us know what you think. I've been pleased with the improvements in IE9, but was wondering how FF 4.0 would fare.

OK, FF4 is installed... Victory! Peace!

Looks like all my Add-ons (Tab Mix Plus, AdBlock Plus, Orbit Orange, and Download Helper) are compatible... w00t!

With my Orbit Orange theme installed, it looks exactly the same as before... The only real noticeable difference is that the status bar at the bottom is gone.

Instead of a status bar, there's only a small popup at the lower left which provides loading status... Once it's done, the popup is gone.

Can't tell if it's any faster or not or any more stable... Only time will tell.

EDIT: There is an Add-on that will get back the Status Bar. Smile

Installed FF4 on my work PC... Still don't notice any real speed difference.

Dropped the Orbit Orange theme and just went with the default theme... Clean and simple. Smile

Question for you FF users.

Prior to installing FF4 I used to be able to just type in whatever I was searching for in the field reserved for the internet address and it would use Google by default and search for whatever key word(s) I plugged in. Now that functionality doesn't seem to be available on FF 4. Is it possible to set that up as it was on FF 3.xx?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

You mean the dedicated Google search window in Firefox?

No not the little window commonly found off to the right. The actual window where you enter the internet address, i.e. http://jdorama.com.

In FF3 I could just enter key words or search terms in that window and it would direct me to relevant hits.

I'm using FF 4.0.1 and that feature still seems to work for me...

Actually, I never even knew that function existed... Maybe a setting in Options?

Quick question.

On your FF4 browser when you type in about:config then hit Enter and search for "keyword.url" what value do you have listed there that enables google searches from the location bar?

For keyword.URL: default - string - (blank)

For keyword.enabled: default - boolean - true

That's odd... You'd think the previous settings would be carried over into FF4.

Yeah, that makes sense.

It definitely wasn't the previous setting! The value had some thing that said "chrome, blah blah blah..." I don't even have Google Chrome on my computer. Head Scratch

Upgraded and have been using FF4 for the past couple of days. Hasn't been a good experience so far. Sweat It kept crashing after I installed it. The F6 shortcut, highlights the address bar, doesn't work when the tabs are on top. I thought it would use less memory but it doesn't. The only good thing is that youtube videos seem to load faster.

One thing I really hated with FF 4 is that, when the tabs are on top, pressing F6 no longer highlights the address bar. This is a 'shortcut' I use all the time, so I was hoping they'd fix it with FF 5. But the issue is still there. Maybe they don't see it as a problem. Sweat
