LOL, liberal use of the FFWD button, undoubtedly
That's putting it mildly.
There was one point of interest in the show that I never figured out. In each episode the former Principal of the school would pull out a bottle of Sake. Always a different brand, and he'd always mention the brand name, and the name of the type of liquor it was. And he'd hold the bottle up to the camera, and the director would make sure to get a clear shot of the label on the bottle. Then they'd move on with the rest of the plot.
It was sort of the ultimate in product placement.
I expect it was some sort of joke, or a deal that they'd put together for some contest... or maybe they were raising funds for something. I don't know.
All I do know is... they never told me what the deal was, and I feel like they left me hanging.
And talking about leaving me hanging...

shin 2 and I watched Osen at about the same time, both of us enjoyed it... and both of us were frustrated with the ending. Or the lack thereof. The impression I got at the time was that it was pulled off the air early... for some reason. For me it was like coming to the end of a book, and finding that someone had torn the last chapter out and thrown it away.

Semi-subliminal advertising apparently: you'll be thinking and talking about it long after the show is over...

It still annoys me.
Annoyed me too, while no classic up to that point I had found myself really enjoying it, especially Yu's character, if they did pull it off early you wonder why, it had run for 10 episodes so what would have been the harm in airing the last one?
Currently on Hachi One Diver, enjoyable so far though know nothing about Shoji. _________________

Then you really need to watch Mother as well. She was unbelievable in there! Plus, the drama also has the always reliable Matsuyuki Yasuko. _________________

Nine very short episodes. They are each 23 minutes long, but then you have to take into account the scenes from last week's show, and the scenes from next week's show, and the lead gets to sing the theme song in a music video every week, so cut the actual time of each episode down to about 17 or 18 minutes.
Hard to screw this one up. We have some evil bad guys who sell drugs and kill innocent people. And some good kids who look pretty in their outfits, and do battle with the bad guy.
The kid who played the male lead, Matsushita Yuya, must have a couple of hit records out right now because he sure didn't get the part because he could act. I just watched 9 episodes of the drama he stared in, and I doubt I'd be able to pick him out of a crowd of three tomorrow.
But the girls were pretty, and Nagasawa Toshiya was a great big roaring bad guy. He gave the impression that he was evil enough, and smart enough, to make it hard for the good guys to win in the end. _________________

Hachi One Diver episode 5, getting better with each episode, really reminds me so much of Liar Game, came out just a bit after LG ended. _________________

With the clean-up after winter in full swing I thought I deserved a reward for weed wacking the hill behind my house, so I've started watching Nasake no Onna

Calling them "English Subtitles" is something of a stretch.
ie. "Thank you" is translated as "3Q" Get it? San Q.
Like I said, I wanted to treat myself. I wanted to watch something I wanted to watch... as opposed to something I had. So I went out and bought retail.
I don't know... I think I'm even enjoying myself, reading the crazy Chinese (computer) translations, and twisting them into something that makes sense, based on the story, and the Japanese I do understand. It's been a while, and I think I've gotten spoiled, reading subs that makes perfect sense. _________________

Oh wow.
That probably is the closest to English subs we'll see for that drama... I haven't even bothered to download it from D-Addicts, seeing that there's no subs, but maybe I'll make the attempt...
