Just finished it off and pretty much forgettable except for a few episodes. But I'll still watch anything with Abe in it. Big Grin

"Shinzanmono" drama gets special episode
Tue, November 30, 2010 (7:13pm EST)
The drama series "Shinzanmono" will be returning to television with a special episode at the start of next year. Based on a Keigo Higashino novel, the drama originally aired this past spring with Hiroshi Abe (46) as the lead actor. This time, the story will adapt an earlier book in the same novel series.

"Shinzanmono" was the 8th book in Higashino's "Kyoichiro Kaga" series. The special episode, titled "Akai Yubi ~ Shinzanmono: Kaga Kyoichiro Futatabi!," is based on the 7th book, "Akai Yubi." The story features the same characters. In particular, Abe will return as the detective Kyoichiro Kaga, while Meisa Kuroki (22) and Junpei Mizobata (21) will also be back in their same roles.

Tetta Sugimoto, Naomi Nishida, Yasuko Tomita, Sumie Sasaki, and Tsutomu Yamazaki have also been cast.

TBS will broadcast "Akai Yubi" on January 3. The episode will be two and a half hours long.

Akai Yubi ~ Shinzanmono Kaga Yuichiro Futatabi

Synopsis:
Detective Kaga returns to investigate the murder of a little girl found in the neighbourhood park. Meanwhile, his father, a retired detective, lays dying on the hospital bed. And the only people who visit the old man are Detective Kaga's aunt and cousin. Why?

Review:
If you like the first series or if you are an Agatha Christie's fan, you will also enjoy this. Like series 8, it's all about family relationships ultimately. Somehow, nobody asks, "erh.....so how did she get murdered?". Well, the taiyaki isn't part of the family.....

I wish I could lay hands on the translated version of Shinzamono novels. Shameful Cry

BTW, there is gonna be another Shinzamono case in March 2011

Yes. This current plot (series 7) was published before the one shown last year. So, Detective Kaga couldn't possibly crave for taiyaki.

Do permit me to digress, the novels were written bys Higashino Keigo who also wrote Himitsu. There was also a screen adaptation of this book by the same title last fall. While I am not his fan; coincidently, I enjoyed all those dramas that were written by him: Galileo, Suspect X, Byakuyakō and Ryūsei no Kizuna.

Oh, yeah! Abe Hiroshi is back as Kaga Kyoichiro! Can't wait! Let's hope it'll get an international release on DVD/Blu-Ray. Because... it's a movie, you see? hehe
