Definitely. You're more likely to get hit with a Banh Mi instead of some Dim Sum.

And there seemed to be less dogs in the area. Beaten

We have plenty of Japanese expats in Silicon Valley, but they shop at Mitsuwa, and don't visit our Japantown for the most part. Puppy Dog Eyes

The same can be said in large measure down here. There are many many other Japanese establishments outside Little Tokyo that are frequented by Japanese nationals and Japanese-Americans.

Following up on gaijinmark's food posts I just read about a newly opened pizzeria in Little Tokyo. It's located in Honda Plaza, where Sushi Gen is located. The different types of pizza on the menu sound fantastic.

Weird I know. I am pretty sure it took over the location from a pho noodle joint that went out of business.

It's like I've been saying it's anything goes in J town that's why it's had its Japanese character diminished over the years.

At this rate, the Nisei Week Festival will eventually cease to be an event. Sad

It'll be called the Anything Festival sponsored by Quizno's. Starbucks coffee and Tofurkey will be available to all attendants.

Well that's fine...when it gets to the point when RuPaul is one of the contestants then you'll have something to worry about.

HAHAHA. New spokesman perhaps.

Well all kidding aside, at least the area is thriving more commercially now than it did in the last couple of decades. As we mentioned though, it remains to be seen if it will maintain enough of its Japanese cultural heritage as time progresses.

There are glimmers of hope as some of the new restaurants & bars in the area have been Japanese.
