Nishijima Hidetoshi, Kim Tae Hee to co-star in Fuji TV drama series (Updated)

Actor Nishijima Hidetoshi (40) and Korean actress Kim Tae Hee (31) will co-star in a Fuji TV drama series this fall, titled �gBoku to Star no 99 Nichi.�h This will be Kim�fs first appearance and first lead role in a Japanese television series.
Nishijima has starred in drama specials and in NHK drama series before, but he has never had a lead role in a full-length series on one of the commercial TV networks.
The story will be a romantic comedy about a top Korean actress (played by Kim) and a dull 40-year-old part-time security guard (played by Nishijima) who is assigned under a 99-day contract as her bodyguard while she is in Japan. Kim�fs role will require her to speak Japanese lines for the first time.
Fuji TV will broadcast �gBoku to Star no 99 Nichi�h on Sunday nights at 9:00pm. The series is set to premiere in October.

Karina, Yoshitaka Yuriko, Oshima Yuko lead Fuji TV�fs next Monday night drama
Fuji TV has announced its Monday night drama for next season. The show appears to be titled �gWatashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu�h and stars actress/model Karina (27). Yoshitaka Yuriko (23) and AKB48 member Oshima Yuko (22) will also play main characters.
This will be Karina�fs first lead role in a �gGetsu 9�h series. For Oshima, this is her first regular role in that time slot.
As the title suggests, the three of them will play women who can�ft fall in love. Karina plays a 27-year-old woman named Fujii Emi, who wants to truly fall in love but who is unable to forget her ex-boyfriend.
Yoshitaka plays the 24-year-old Ogura Saki, Emi�fs junior in high school who has never really fallen in love. Unable to find a regular job, she started working as a hostess at a cabaret club, keeping it a secret from her parents. However, her �gfirst love�h ends up being a married man.
Oshima plays 22-year-old Mako, also from the same high school, who is always futilely running around in circles when it comes to love.
Tanaka Kei plays Emi�fs former boyfriend and co-worker, while Kurashina Kana plays his current girlfriend. Other cast members include Nakao Akiyoshi, Kagami Seira, Nakamura Ryu, Katsumura Masanobu, Hagiwara Masato, and Inamori Izumi.
Fuji TV will begin airing the series this October.

Yanagiba Toshiro, Kanjiya Shihori, Osamu Mukai star in �gHanayome no Chichi�h drama special

The Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS) is continuing to celebrate its 60th anniversary with a television drama special called �gHanayome no Chichi�h (�gFather of the Bride�h). Yanagiba Toshiro (50) will star as the awkward but sincere father, and Kanjiya Shihori (25) and Osamu Mukai (29) will play the daughter and son-in-law, respectively.
The story is set against the beautiful scenery of Yamakoshi, Niigata, which is also known for bullfighting. Yanagiba plays a man named Satoshi who raises fighting bulls, while Kanjiya plays his deaf and mute daughter Mio. Osamu plays her fiance Maru, a charming young man from the lower part of town.
The supporting cast features Hashizume Isao as a loud but kind grandfather, and Yo Kimiko as a woman who secretly has feelings for Satoshi.
The screenplay is written by veteran writer Izawa Man. The drama is planned to air nationwide on the TBS-MBS network this winter.

Kuriyama Chiaki gets first lead role in drama series as secret spy

Actress Kuriyama Chiaki (26) is confirmed to be starring in a new drama series this fall. Although she has appeared in many television dramas during her 13-year career, this will be her first time playing the sole lead role in a series.
Titled �gHimitsu Chouhouin Erika,�h the drama has Kuriyama playing Takahashi Erika, a former secret spy for Japan�fs Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office. One day, she met an ordinary salaryman and his son, and she ended up retiring and getting married to him while concealing her past. However, a year later, her former boss (played by Sugimoto Tetta) calls upon her to return to work, so she begins leading a double life as a housewife and a spy.
The show is described as a mystery series, with each episode revolving around a single case. Using her instant memory, excellent hearing, fighting skills, and mastery of disguise, Erika sets out to resolve a variety of incidents.
Ide Takuya will play a graduate school student who helps out as Erika�fs assistant.
Seki Erika (�gJigyaku no Uta,�h �gTeppan�h) is in charge of the screenplay, while Ueda Hisashi (�gShiroi Haru,�h �gOhitorisama�h) is directing.
Kuriyama has been chosen for the show�fs theme song. The song is planned to be written, composed, and produced by Shiina Ringo.
NTV will broadcast �gHimitsu Chouhouin Erika�h on Thursdays at 11:58pm, starting on October 6.

Motoki Masahiro, Matsu Takako, Maki Yoko to star in drama about Okinawa reversion pact
Actor Motoki Masahiro will star in the TBS drama series �gUnmei no Hito,�h to be aired in early 2012. The story is adapted from a bestselling 2009 novel by Yamasaki Toyoko, whose previous works include �gShizumanu Taiyo,�h �gShiroi Kyoto,�h and �gKarei Naru Ichizoku.�h
The story is inspired by the scandal 40 years ago surrounding the secret pact on Okinawa�fs reversion. The central character is Ryosuke (played by Motoki), a newspaper reporter who prides himself on getting scoop after scoop and who exposes the political deceit behind the scandal. Matsu Takako plays his wife, while Maki Yoko plays an official in the Department of Foreign Affairs who is a key figure in the story.
Filming starts this month and is expected to last about 5 months, with some on-location shots in Okinawa. The series will begin airing in January 2012 in TBS�fs Sunday 9:00pm time slot.

Yonekura Ryoko, Kiritani Mirei to play �gbounty hunters�h in new drama series

Actress Yonekura Ryoko (36) has a new lead television role lined up this fall in Fuji TV�fs �gHUNTER ~Sono Onnatachi, Shoukin Kasegi~.�h The story will revolve around a group of ordinary women who unite as a team to become bounty hunters.
Yonekura plays Isaka Rei, a cabin attendant with a strong sense of justice. Due to various circumstances, she becomes a �ghunter,�h trying to earn the reward money from bounties that the police have declared on cases that they can�ft solve through traditional methods.
Yonekura�fs teammates include a junior cabin attendant (Kiritani Mirei) and a housewife (Horiuchi Keiko). Tanihara Shosuke and Koizumi Kotaro both play police detectives.
�gHUNTER�h will air on Tuesdays at 10:00pm this fall, beginning in October.

�gMarumo no Okite�h special to air on October 9

The hit drama series �gMarumo no Okite�h is returning for a 2-hour special episode next month. Naturally, child stars Ashida Mana and Suzuki Fuku will reprise their roles as Kaoru and Tomoki, along with actor Abe Sadao as Marumo.
�gMarumo no Okite�h aired on Fuji TV this past spring and averaged a 15.8% rating, with the final episode scoring 23.9%. The show�fs theme song �gMaru Maru Mori Mori!�h – sung by Ashida and Suzuki – has also been in the Top 10 charts for 14 consecutive weeks.
According to Sports Nippon, the story is set during the children�fs summer vacation, and the three main characters take a trip to a vineyard run by Marumo�fs college underclassman. There, Kaoru and Tomoki meet another child around the same age and resolve a conflict between the child�fs parents.
The episode will air on October 9th, starting at 9:00pm.

"Unmei no Hito" sounds really good. And I'm in complete agreement about having Matsu and Maki on the same screen. January, shmanuary, air-conditioning WILL be needed! _________________

Kamiki Ryunosuke stars in new Kudokan drama series
Actor Kamiki Ryunosuke (18) will be the star of a drama series for the first time since �gTantei Gakuen Q�h in 2007. This time, he will play a working student supporting his family in a story written by popular screenwriter Kudo Kankuro (�gTiger and Dragon,�h �gKisarazu Cat's Eye�h).
Titled �g11 Nin mo Iru!,�h the drama is a heartrending but comedic story about a family consisting of a jobless father, a domestic mother, and eight children with different personalities. As the title suggests, the family also has a mysterious �g11th member.�h
Kamiki plays the eldest son Kazuo, a high school student who helps support the family through part time jobs serving at a gas station and doing newspaper delivery. He clashes with his father (Tanabe Seiichi), an artsy photographer with no real earning power. Mitsuura Yasuko plays the part of an obedient wife, while Kato Seishiro plays the shy youngest child who can see a ghost (the �g11th member�h) but doesn�ft tell the rest of the family.
It is also reported that Hoshino Gen, the guitarist of the band SAKEROCK, will have a regularly appearing role as the younger brother of Tanabe Seiichi.
The show will air on TV Asahi on Friday nights at 11:15pm, starting in October.
