Borrowed a copy of Windows 7 64-bit from work to try out at home on a secondary hard drive... Sweat

The updates and enhancements are rather frustrating for this long-time XP user. Grumble

^ First major problem with Win 7-64: No driver for my Canon scanner... And it won't even run in Compatibility Mode. Sad

I recently got a new laptop with Win7-64. It's pretty awesome having 8 GB of RAM; so far I haven't used more the 37% of it at any time. Once you get used to Win7, it's not bad. But like you and your driver issues, I find that I can't connect to my printer through my network, no 64-bit driver found.

I don't like the new Task Bar or "revised" Windows Explorer, either. bleh

Fortunately, I found a third-party program that gives me the classic XP versions of those two items: Classic Shell ( http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/ ) Victory! Peace!

And I haven't had a chance to determine if all my driving games (GTR2, GT Legends, Race07) and hardware (Logitech Wheel) will work... Fingers crossed

Now that Win 8 was announced, you decide to go with Win 7? Mr Green

Not really.

We're starting to migrate some of our stuff at work to Win7, so I'd thought I might do the same at home... Though supposedly Win7 will only be supported up to 2014, which is only three years away. Head Scratch

And Win8 shows up end of 2012, so I'm thinkin', why bother with Win7?

I'm really leaning towards staying with WinXP...

I would still be using WinXP had my computer not crashed.

I thought Win 8 was for tablets only? Last time I used a tablet, I had some pretty good pharmacological effects which made for an enjoyable evening.

I think it's supposed to be for both tablets and PCs.

Thanks. Wow the developer preview of Win 8 requires a lot of hard drive space.
