Only two.
The GUI looks exactly like the picture posted on Wiki... And works sorta like a tablet GUI... Not a very good first impression, IMO.
Hmm....I see. Well I am no one to judge b/c I'm stuck in the Vista vortex. I guess I don't want to spend the bread just to upgrade my OS on my old machines.
I have seen the tile like icons you're talking about since I read the preview of Win 8 on Engadget.

Well, the Win8 experiment is done... Now to try Ubuntu.
I was able to copy the Ubuntu OS onto a flash drive and boot from it, so I didn't have to install anything on my desktop PC.
System boots up quickly, has Firefox already installed, as well as a Office-like program that reads all of my existing Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)... Impressive.
I'm going do an actual install on a spare HDD when I get home and really put it through some paces... I'll need to install WINE (WINdows Emulator) to run any Windows-based programs, though.

Didn't try... I don't recall if there was a USB-bootable version of Win8.
Doesn't matter: I didn't like the tablet-like interface of Win8.
After installing Win 8 on your computer you should lay the monitor on your lap and then pick at the screen with your golden chopstick...the tablet-like interface will suit you much more after doing so.

Ok, after over an hour of pain with the laptop and printer, I finially got my old HP1200 networked printer to work with Windows 7.
I had to plug the printer directly to the laptop (Win7) via the USB cable, but it still didn't install correctly (probably as there was no 64-bit driver in Win7). Then I had to go to the HP website and download the 64-bit drivers on their page and install. Now the printer works when directly connected via the USB cable, but I need this downstairs. So, then I had to add a new local port in the printer properties with the address of the networked printer, change some printer settings, and reboot. Finally, successful network printing.
Oh, I had to delete the failed USB install printer from the printer list as well. _________________
I use Win7 & Vista. One thing they have in common (and I hate) is both take long to startup and shutdown. My XP machine was a lot quicker starting up and shutting down.

I think there is just an issue with HP printers + Windows + networking. I have wireless HP printer in my network. When I first set it up, I installed all the drivers on my Windows machines and the printer just wouldn't work. I thought maybe it was my router, but I was able to print from my Macbook. It took multiple uninstalling and reinstalling of the drivers on the Windows machines to get the printer to work.

Seriously my number one gripe re: Vista. Boot time is ridiculous.
