Hehe. So it's not surprising that California is the state with the highest population of Japanese but I'm thinking that Hawaii has a higher population per capita because it's a much smaller state than ours.

That sucks. They need to attract some Japan-related/Japanese-themed businesses in that area in order to pump money into events such as this.
Given the substantial growth in the popularity of Japanese food and the global export of popular culture from Japan to areas like the United States you would think it would have happened already.
Oh yeah, there's this thing in California called the economy, which sucks right now.

What could be more appropriate for St. Patrick's Day than a Hawaiian celebration in Little Tokyo?
Nisei Week Hospitality Committee Luau scheduled on St. Patrick's Day
Saturday, March 17, 2012.
5:30pm until 9:30pm.

The experience of the islands invades Little Tokyo, when the beautiful dancers from Kanani Kalama Hula Studio, hits center stage. They�fll be performing on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at L.A. Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple (Nishi) in Little Tokyo.
Sponsored by the Nisei Week Hospitality Committee, the luau festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the luau will go to the Nisei Week Hospitality Committee who will host the visiting courts and guests from Hawaii, San Francisco, and Seattle during the 72nd Annual Nisei Week Festival in August, 2012.
Authentic Hawaiian cuisine, catered by Our Daily Bread of Gardena, will be featured. Opportunity drawing tickets are also available now and will be sold up until the evening of the event. First prize is $500.00 with many other fabulous prizes to win.
Emcees for the evening will be Tamlyn Tomita & Amy Hill.
Luau tickets are available for $35 for adults and $15 for children under 12 years old. Corporate tables of ten are also available for $ 400. The Nisei Week Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization,so your donations are tax deductible.
