I can't be too austere for too long. It's a weakness. Beaten So it prompts me to zero in on some of the healthy spots while I forgo the normal deliciousness when eating out.

Haha. It's funny I saw a a commercial for the season finale of Bourdain's new show "The Layover" and it's about Los Angeles. On the commercial he's all, "It's like a tradition in L.A., you eat an In-N-Out burger on the way from the airport and and on the way back to the airport."

Yeah I want to watch it, too. Might get an interesting idea or two regarding something or some place new.

Hi Guys & Gals, Wave

Long Time, No See! Or is it Long Time, No Post? lol!

A friend of mine has a daughter who lives in Las Vegas and writes a food blog called "Greedy Girl in Las Vegas." Recently she wrote about a food truck that is called Fuku Burger. They also have a restaurant in Los Angeles in Hollywood on Cahuenga Blvd near Vine St. Has anyone in CA or NV eaten there? Colin Fukunaga is the co-owner of the truck. It looks like food with a Japanese flair! The food descriptions sounded so good! Here is the link:

P.S. Happy (belated) New Year & Happy Chinese New Year of the Dragon! Smile

I've also read about this new burger joint on some other food blogs. Looks decadent.
This restaurant just recently opened last year. I haven't been there yet but it's on my list of places to try.

Went to a restaurant aptly named "Grub" in Hollywood for breakfast this morning.

I had the "Are You Yolkinf? Egg Sandwich" -- Scrambled egg with Cheddar Cheese on Toasted Croissant with Dill Butter with the addition of what they call "crack bacon" (Bacon glazed in maple syrup, cumin, and other spices) & garlic & herb roasted new potatoes.

The sandwich was grub but the potatoes were whatever. Too dry.

Thank goodness I just came back from the gym. Sweat

Paula Deen Shocked By Lack Of Public Support Following Diabetes Announcement

Chef and television personality Paula Deen was blindsided by the public backlash following the announcement that she has type 2 diabetes. But what has the butter-loving star shocked more than anything? None of her famous foodie friends have shown her one ounce of support.

Yet some believe that other chefs have remained silent because Deen kept quiet about her illness for years.

"The amount of chefs that would have come forward with public statements of support and sympathy would have been overwhelming if it wasn't for the fact that Paula hid her diagnosis for three years," a top food publicist tells me. "To only tell the truth when you have locked in a paid spokesperson deal for a non-insulin medication is just too toxic for anyone to want to be involved with."

The news not only surprised Deen's fans and colleagues, it also surprised her own network, which had no knowledge of her disease prior to the public announcement.

"You have heard correctly, Food Network learned last week about Paula's diagnosis," the network's Vice President of Communications, Irika Slavin, tells me in an email. She also adds that it was surprising that none of the network's stars had commented: "Each has their own team's reps, who I imagine would be advising their clients.h

After reaching out to PR agencies that represent Martha Stewart, Rachael Ray and Bobby Flay, asking why their clients were so silent, only one responded off the record telling me, "So here's the deal, none of our chefs want to go on the record saying anything about her. However, I heard someone say it would be news if she didn't get diabetes. So I guess friend, butter is bad for you. Who knew?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only reason she's shocked is because she's so arrogantly ignorant about the entire matter...

Basically, "Did I do something wrong?"

Shake Head

THIS.

What Paula "Butter bean" Deen doesn't want to acknowledge is that her wack ass cooking is what GAVE her Type 2 Diabetes.

So she said as she rolled up a ball of macaroni & cheese coated in grits to ready for deep frying in bacon grease...
