Thanks for the post. I'm planning to watch this. Smile

As far as I know, it's only playing in L.A. at one theater at the moment in very limited release. One week only.

I went to go watch this documentary last night with a buddy. It is fantastic. Excellently made, informative, and really captivating. The sushi showcased is simply sublime.

The dedication and the utter devotion of this man to the art of sushi is awe-inspiring.

I highly recommend it to foodies and general devotees of Japanese culture alike.

Thanks for posting your review. I'd really like to see it but I don't know if I'll be able to get to the Westside soon. Was it very crowded? Hopefully, it'll come out on DVD.

I saw it around 5:30pm on opening night. The Nuart theater only has one screen. The theater was fairly full, not packed. There were quite a few Japanese in the audience.
At the end of the documentary the audience clapped. Gotta say you don't see that kind of enthusiasm very much these days so I think that's a fair indication of how warmly received the film was.

Netflix has a good selection of documentaries so I think the odds are pretty good they might include it in their catalog in the coming months. However you can get at it...it's worth seeing.

I just watched The Expendables on netflix. You know, Sylvester Stalone, Jet Li, and a bevy of 60+ year old weight lifters running around blowing things up.

Amusing, but dull after a few minutes. But then I hit on the perfect way to watch the movie.

While watching netflix on the computer, I had K-Pop (muted) running on the tv.

So when the big, extended action scene came on, I muted the movie and cranked up the sound on IU's You and I.

It was freakin' outstanding!!! Best 4 minutes of the movie. Made me wish I actually had some of IU's music recorded so that I could watch the rest of the movie.

This movie will be cultural sacrilege of the highest order. Next we will see Vladimir Lenin played by Ashton Kutcher.

Saw The Avengers today... Better than I thought it would be.

I'd give it an 8/10.

Just watched Skin a true story about sandra Liang. It was really well done and heart breaking, she's a very strong woman.
