hi
to those who listen to Super poppy Jpop songs (those songs that you easily forget ...) like those of morning mususme and others, do you listen to american super poppy songs like those of aaron carter etch or super poppy songs of artists of your nationality. I'm just wondering coz I see people listening to Poppy jpops while not super poppy american songs....

like for the guys, guys usually don't listen to american pop, like britney spears one more time or christina aguilera's what a girl wants BUt they will listen to morning musume's song???? what's up with that, is it because its japanese...

sorry for the wierd question

Well I'm a Mo-musu fan and I still listen to their old songs. I'm not sure why i like them so much, I just got addicted to Love Revolution and I have been with them since. I'm not into American pop so I can't really say I listen to Christina or Britney on a regular basis but a comparison to Mo-Musu pop and American pop is quite far off. Mo-Musu's high energy is just way off the charts and I think that's what makes them so great. I can't give you a definitive answer on why I listen to them over American artist, it's just in their music. So addictive! Bleah

Its funny how you define Super poppy Jpop songs as "those songs that you easily forget" because the morning musume cd has been in my car's cd rack for the longest time out of any cds. Whenever I'm feeling stressful going home from work I always play Renai Revolution 21 (never get tired of that song Mr Green ).

Contrast that with more mature and l guess less "super poppy" songs like Nakashima Mika Yuki no Hana and Moriyama Naotarou's Sakura or even the recent big hit Hirahara Ayaka's Jupiter where they are good songs but I wouldn't be able to continuely listen to them all the time. Just once in a while otherwise I would become bored with them. MM though can be listened at any time Wink

As for American pop, I barely listen to them anymore. Most of it these days are more into rap anyway and there are very few of those that I like.

I don't like most American pop. I have to listen to all of it, though.

Most American pop artists don't have the depth of a Morning Musume/H!P, which is a full blown super-idol act.

It isn't a bunch of throwaway songs, $19.95 wasted end of act.

As for the "nationality" part. pfffft.

I don't owe anyone anything.

And just like ruroshin... I don't forget about these songs.

You're comparing apples to oranges.

If you like acts with some sort of bitchyslutpower underground attempts at sophistication... by all means rock ON to those first two acts it's the same cycle of nonsense. "sex and ass in your face sells"... it's BORING.

Christina can REALLY sing... but to compare her act to the megawholesome act... with a touch of class like H!P, you've got to do your homework. It's HUGE.

and it's more than just a "self hating otaku" argument which is what you're alluding to...

yes, we saw that. Smile

MM makes you feel like a lil school girl hopped up on caffeine.

American Pop makes you feel like a love-starved/dimwitted loner.

ah and the language card. Not knowing the words to the lyrics is a good thing. But even after knowing, Jpop still got more energy.
haha...just like "The Peace"- MM, you just can't help yourself to throw your right arm out and sway to the left side...

I only got into Morning Musume when I heard my Japan International Club (at NYU) female friends karaoke-sing "Love Machine." (and even then, just that song) Other than that, the only teeny-bopper type girl I do like out of J-pop is Nami Tamaki. Today I mostly listen to softer music like that of CHEMISTRY, Sin Bandera or Dave Matthews Band.

Just to make another cultural pop-girl comparison, I did like Thalía and Paulina Rubio, but that was a decade ago when they didn't know or care about the English language. Nowadays, to me, they're mere poseurs influenced by the WASP crap polluting my radio.

wow, so this means the end of mini moni, huh? (i'd check with the H!P thread, but it's WAY too long.)

rubio is ok i guess, but i really dig thalia only when she is singing in spanish, like mujer mexicana.

I like the Love Revolution 21 song but that's about it.

In one episode of Music Station, there was this group with 21 girls in it!? That's insane.
