Calm down, Betsy-chan.... Sedation, please!!
Ahhhhhhhh ... *being sedated now* (now dreaming of Ken Watanabe) ...
When I've watched the movie, I've got impressed to see how Shichinosuke looks like Imperor Meiji ...
And yeah, Ikeda gave our hero his name ("Miyamoto Musashi"). _________________

The JDorama text across his face doesn't help, either.
Sanada-san has been doing this stuff since his teens, neh? I first saw him in various Chiba Shinichi productions: The Yagyu Conspiracy, Shadow Warriors, etc... And he's excellent in The Twilight Samurai (Tasogare Seibei)....

The trip for me was watching "Last Samuri" for the first time, the day after I'd just finished watching Sanada Hiro staring in the series, "Unmarried Family".
In "Unmarried Family" he pretty much goes from being a career driven salary man who in short order, loses his wife, his job and his home. And he ends up being a single parent / "house husband" in his first ex wifes' condo. (Sort of a take on Kramer vs. Kramer)
Then the very next day I plug in my Last Samuri DVD, and he's one of the scariest guys I've ever seen in a movie.
The impressive thing was, he was outstanding in both parts.

Check out The Twilight Samurai (Tasogare Seibei). He's even better.

Sorry if someone else posted this before, but what do you guys think of Lost In Translation, starring Bill Murray?
I finally watched it over the weekend, after some of my friends and siblings recommended it. Also, it has an Academy Award Nomination.
However... I thought the movie sucked.
I thought it was an exaggeration of Japanese culture, and it seemed like they were just making fun of Japan at every opportunity.
I found the main characters boring and the story boring as well.
Maybe it's just me, but I didn't like this film at all.

Sofia Coppola snagging an Oscar statue for the SCREENPLAY is a joke.
There wasn't much of a coherent sense of reality to the story or its characters. Yet the movie touched a zillion people in a generally positive way. I just don't get it.
I used to think it was just me that didn't like the film but more people are coming out of the closet with their displeasure for the movie and realize that, indeed, the emperor has no clothes.
