I saw all 10 episodes of this crime drama about a killer who is waiting for the statute of limitations to run out for the murder (there is in Japan; in the U.S. no SOL for murder).

Frankly I was disappointed. It was unusually violent and erotic for a Japanese show (several kissing scenes), and the ending was very weak.

Thumbs down. Not recommended.

OK, so yesterday I was watching Tentai Kansoku No.1, out of curiosity and to see Manami Konishi.

AND WHAT DO I FIND?!!

It's even MORE of a copy to Ai to iu na no moto ni than Boku dake no Madonna was to Long Vacation. Maybe because the span of time between the former (more than 10 years as opposed to less than 7 for the latter), may have drawn it out of your memory, but let me refresh you: The group is exactly the same configuration and similar start-up situation. And the first chapter ends up in a group fight! Although it's more heated than Ai to iu... because at least there Karasawa, Eguchi and Ishibashi knew how to control themselves, whereas Ito, Sakaguchi and Odagiri do not.

Sorry, but since I thought Ai to iu was sad, I'm expecting more of the same. PM me if you see any difference that may make it worth continuing. Other than HaseKyo, which admittedly is an all-new character, but she looks quite dowdy.

Tentai was a KTV dorama, that's why we couldn't get it here in the States. Re GTO, Haru Ran-man, Kunimitsu no Matsuri.

Even BokuMado had some elements of originality and cheerfulness that made it stand out. Shin Hoshi no Kinka, despite its name, had a lot of originality too.

I'm actually instead enjoying watching again BokuMado and also Bara no Jujika, the story there was dark but very original and, above all, both touching and shocking.

Just finished Episodes 1 and 3 of Gokusen. It's really quite good and I love those little moments when yankumi speaks directly to the camera. Hilarious! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series.

If you go to d-addicts and find/search for episodes 1 and 3, read the discussions that go with them. From what I gather, they decided to do Ep.'s 1 and 3 first. The rest will follow later.
