I understand the 'shallow character' thing, but one thing that got me was the two main character's chemistry. xD
somehow it worked, and the plot twists were quite awesome.

their chemistry is really good, even though nodame's super-hentai.
Nodame's voice gets sort of annoying at times, but that aside,
the plot is good, as is the music, and chiaki-senpai is super-hot. xD
All in all, it's a joy to watch and relaxing to listen to.
Although, there's not much romance till you get to the special episodes.
