Yup. The raw version is up.
Man, what a cast.
If Yuji never did anything before or after Odoru Daisousassen he'd still be a star. Fortunately he's done a lot more, and it's pretty much always been good.
Iijima is always Iijima, and that's good enough to make me watch every time.
And I've loved Shinobu Ohtake ever since she had me laughing my ass off in Hito no Fukou wa Hachimitsu no aji "The Misery of Others is as Sweet as Honey".
She was wonderful as the ghost/memory in Yasashi Jikan. But to me, she'll always be that spoiled, wicked, self-centered brat, Menga Writer.
Ueno's in some fast company here when it comes to actors. _________________

Episode 1 was not impressive. Let's hope it gets better.
Synopsis:

Keita and Eren revel in their bliss in the French seaside resort town of Nice. Eren, who is twenty years younger than Keita, was born and raised in France and they are here to obtain her parents permission to marry. But, that is exactly the first step towards trouble.
The day before meeting Eren's parents, Keita meets an unexpected woman on the streets of Nice. She is Rie, the woman he had dated during his student days. The next day, Keita and Eren visit the winery that her parents run, and meet her father, Sohei, and three sisters in person. But when Eren's mother looks back with a smile, Keita is lost for words. His ex-lover is his girlfriend's mother?!? Keita is flustered but comforted by the fact that Rie lives in France and that they'd rarely meet again when he marries Eren.
Keita returns to Japan and finds further tragedy has befallen. His department has been cut back, a victim of his company's restructuring... ...

Rie comes from France and moves in with the newlyweds. Keita is deeply unsettled with having to live with his ex-lover who is now his dutiful mother-in-law. "I'll stay here for a while. One week? One month? One year? Forever?" Rie declares but adamantly refuses to say the reason for her return to Japan.
Just at that moment, Motoo Yamada, a former classmate and neighbour, comes over Keita's house for dinner. Unaware of Rie's affairs, he talks about their university days. "Keita dated someone older than him," he blurts. Keita worries whether Eren has sensed anything about his relationship with Rie.
On the work front, unable to accept his career setback due to a company restructuring, he submits his resignation letter behind Eren's back. However, Rie finds a crossed out resignation letter thrown away in the dustbin ...
Having handed in his resignation, Keita heads to a family restaurant to fill time, and he encounters Saeko, the woman he had lent his handkerchief to while at a standing bar, again.

I had great hopes that the new Yuji Oda offering Jodan Janai (TBS network, Sundays, 9 p.m.) would ace the test this spring season.
It's a romantic comedy about a fashionable 40-ish guy, Keita Takamura (Oda), who marries a woman 20 years his junior only to discover her mother, Rie, is the older woman he dated in college. Still, his in-laws live on a vineyard in France. As Takamura is a research engineer in Tokyo, he figures he can keep the past a secret.

Back in Tokyo, there is no honeymoon waiting. His new neighbor turns out to be an old college pal who remembers Rie and she suddenly shows up and decides to move in with the newlyweds. Meanwhile, Takamura's company begins restructuring and he is tapped for a job in the sales department. In Kagoshima. His other option is early retirement.
And if all this is not enough, Nonomura (Naoko Iijima) is hovering in the background. Takamura casually lent her a hankie in a pub. Now she is smitten and thinks he is her "handkerchief prince."
Oda did not disappoint, but the casting of the two women in his life falls flat. The chemistry doesn't quite work. It is hard to imagine him in love with the immature Eren (Juri Ueno) or her mother (Shinobu Otake). With this cast, they might have done better to let Sanma Akashiya play the husband and let Oda use his considerable talents elsewhere.
But Oda is a pro, and in his hands Jodan Janai was still the most pleasant way to waste an hour this week.
