Article from Singapore papers:
He loses sleep for nothing ..
HE looks oh-so-suave in the new Japanese crime drama Galileo, but actor-singer Masaharu Fukuyama confessed to losing his nerves during the first few days of filming.
He kept fumbling and ended up doing retakes, he told the Japanese media recently.
And he was so worried about ratings that he couldn't sleep.
Not that you can blame him.
It has been four and a half years since Masaharu, 38, shelved his acting career to focus on singing, and he was understandably nervous about his TV comeback.
The boyish-looking star was last seen in the 2003 drama Beauty Or Beast, which co-starred Nanako Matsushima.
But he can heave a sigh of relief now, as the novel-adapted Galileo debuted in Japan with much fanfare and drew a high rating of 24.7.
This makes it the second highest rated TV serial shown this year - after Takuya Kimura's Grand Family.
Not only that, Galileo's reviews have been so good its producers announced last week that they would film a movie version early next year, starring the same cast.
This will be Masaharu's first movie in 20 years, and he is set to reprise the role of an eccentric but brilliant physicist nicknamed Galileo.
A genius at analysing criminal behaviour, he works with a rookie cop played by icy babe Kou Shibasaki to solve mysterious cases.
Every episode boasts a famous guest star - from Toshiaki Karasawa to Ryoko Hirosue and Shingo Katori.
Having eased himself into his new screen persona, Masaharu can now crack jokes about his co-star Kou, reported Shukan Gendai.
He calls the actress-singer the real weirdo on the set.
LIKE A ROD
'She's always sleeping all over the place, and sometimes she'd be lying like a rod on the floor, which is so scary!' he said.
Oddly enough, Kou reportedly treated Masaharu coldly initially, and she was temperamental on the set.
But they probably bonded over their common love for music - evidenced by their collaboration on the drama's theme song, Kiss Me.
She is the lead singer, while he plays the guitar and joins in the chorus.
He also wrote and produced the song, which was released as a CD single last week.
They work so well together, there was even talk of Masaharu breaking up Kou's relationship with actor Satoshi Tsumabuki.
The very eligible Masaharu recently said in a magazine interview in Japan that he admires women who are like Kou - frank and candid and yet, gentle.
Her response? She has not met any guy who is more perfect than Masaharu.
Is she being polite, or is she out to make her beau Satoshi jealous?

Yeah I know, Ep 4 is really hardcore.
The fact is, I don't get them either
Every 3 or 4 minutes of video, I'm going off to Yahoo! JP search and Japanese wikipedia to find out medical/physics terms like "cardiac arrhythmia" or "piezoelectric effect" or "Smolin's Loop Quantum Gravity Theory", which I have no idea what it is, so goes off to research again.
It's a good way of learning random trivia in physics though! I'm learning way more about physics translating this series than Physics 102 I took last semester in college

Maybe you can convince your college to add this drama to the Physics curriculum.

Hahaha, that would make the class a lot more fun
Too bad they tend to mention a lot of jargons without going too much into the details...

You'd discuss the details after watching the episode.

It was thrown in as part of a small talk anyway, and unless you're into quantum mechanics and general relativity, people would still have a hard time understanding even if you insert a brief explanation.

we need a good name that rhymes like Brangelina.
I dunno, Kou-Haru ? _________________

Yeah, but I get too curious Plus I want to make sure I get the terms right. Japanese scientific terms don't always translate directly to English.
I just finished translating ep4, this is really an awesome episode. You can see that the staff put extra efforts in this episode, just like ep1, because of the big name guest
Katori is so much better at evil roles than heroes like Gokuu and Hattori-kun.
Can't wait for the next A-rank guests, possibly on ep7 and finale ep 10.

I guess you can still argue about the lack of chemistry bet. the leads, but IMO it was partially compensated by the abundance of dry humor which was not as prominent in previous episodes (and I still enjoy the bantering bet. the leads). Afterwards, I actually had a hard time watching this season's other dramas; may be Iryu 2 tomorrow will get me interested again...
As for A-rank guest, what about Tsumabuki Satoshi? He will be an interesting choice, plus didn't he just play a villain in Tengoku to Jigoku?

But it might have to do with the character...

whose character? shibasaki herself or utsumi?
it's a bit one sided indeed. Everytime utsumi saw yukawa do those sports he does i think she tries to put on a "struck by the lightning of love" kind of face *yeah, my english's bad, sorry*, but all i can see is just.. acting?
don't know of if i'm in my fangirl mode right now, but fuukuyama as yukawa looks so much natural in giving affection to utsumi
edited ..
*i am in my fangirl mode*
