Hmmm...2 episodes have aired and no one would like to comment on the show? I'll withhold my judgement on the drama itself until I've watched a few more episodes, but some initial observations:
This is the 2nd drama this season I've seen a Japanese law enforcement agent used a Walther PPK (Joshi Deka! being the other); I thought the more elite agents use SIG P226 or HK USP as standard firearms?
The SPs in the drama are not only ill equipped (not just firearms); but frighteningly incompetent and lax in their overall protection schemes. I wonder if it really reflects the real SPs in Japan, or that they just can't show how they operate; in which case it sort of defeats the purpose of the drama (it has to be at least somewhat realistic IMO).
I've noticed that since the first episode. They expose the person they're supposed to protect to so many potential threats it's amazing. Aren't they supposed to anticipate everything that can possibly happen? It would seem that only Inoue and Ogata recognise the folly. Even their superior Nakao in Ep 2 was so dismissive the danger the former premier could encounter in the hospital. He probably thinks the SPs are supposed to jump in and intercept the bullets with their body to protect the VIPs. I think that's the rationale they function on.
Like you I wonder whether it really reflects the case in Japan or is it because they're protecting the people way down the rung of importance. But nevertheless, I still find it an enjoyable drama.

At least they're not using Super Soaker CPS 4100.
They could be using small arms for real. It seems their swat are only using shields, while half L.A.'s motorists have 30 cal mounted on their cars. _________________

Finished ep.4...very disappointed, on the verge of dropping this one if this is indeed intended to be an action series. There're plot holes galore. The so-called terrorists' tactics are way too naive (with their alleged background, brain-dead would be a better description), and their demand laughable (there're actually some 'unintentional' LOL dialogs). The replays of the stunts is very irritating (are they trying to pay homage to 30+ years old Jackie Chan movies???), and not very impressive I might add. Anyone with a reasonable amount of martial arts training can do those stunts with ease and better. In no way can they be compared to those in US & Hong Kong TV series, let alone those in US and Hong Kong action movies.
Say what you will about the US TV series 24; at least the terrorists are not portrayed as idiots, and the action scenes are way better w/ cooler sets plus high tech toys to boot.

They coulda called it "SS" for Secret Service, but then people would link the drama to the German SS from WWII...
Well, there was the OSS, the Allied special operations unit.
Personally, I like this one a lot. But... what the hell is it with those Walthers. They look like PPKs, though, they could be PP Super (only difference being the caliber, 9mm instead of 7.62 but still only 7 rounds, and the 9x18mm Police/Ultra for the PP Super is extremely hard to get these days.) The evil guys carry better guns than the SP, what the...
I'd give him a Para Ordnance P14-45, it's an M1911 (old design, yes, but still extremely reliable) with 14 rounds (.45ACP and they pack a lot of more stopping power than 9mm.) _________________
I haven't watched a single episode yet, but you guys sure are dissecting this drama to death...
I'm a nitpicker when it comes to details as well, but hopefully I can look past these things and enjoy the drama from an entertainment level and not as a police training film...

Someone post a screen shot or something. Para's are too large for my hands, i like my single stack 1911, it's just right.
kriminals always have better guns than the cops.

Shotplacing is an issue, but the FBI, for example, learns to fire several shots at one target. You have to be extremely good to drop a target with one round. With a handgun almost impossible. If we're talking about a rifle like a Steyr SSG, then yes. But a handgun or even an assault rifle, you usually expend more than one round, just to make sure the target will stay down. Ok, if you're lucky enough to place a headshot... But how many people are that lucky, or have the time to place it like that.
As the screenshot shows, it's a Walther, likely a PPK. Could be a PP Super, too, but I think it says PPK. Though, most likely it's a Marui replica or maybe a Marushin . Winchester is just the ammo, they produce many different calibers. The PPK became most famous because James Bond used to carry it. My father carried one, too, back in the 70s, then they were replaced with P-80s in the 80s. It was the gun I learned shooting with. Ah, memories.
But... look at the screenshot and there are a few things I would like to praise. Things that are NOT common on tv or in movies. A), the gun is pointing away from him and downwards. Saftey seems to be off, but that's fine, since he has to chamber a round first. B) right trigger finger is long and away from the trigger. Good gun safety. He deserves a special cookie for that. _________________

Looks like a PPK had a bastard child with a Makarov

There are no guarantees even w/ a 45 (golden saber), i know a guy that was involved in a robbery shooting, and he put 2 shots COM, 1 thru the arm, 1 thru the leg, and the bad guy was still able to empty his mag and run 3 blocks before he collapsed.
Two COM, and one in the head. That's what I'd go by.

Actually, you guys are complete wrong. I feel stupid because, I, of all people should've known immediately what that was.
It's a Sig Sauer P230 (no external safety), im guessing 380ACP by the size of the casings and the box.

I think you're absolutely right. Nakama Yukie also uses one in Joshi Deka!; and it seems like the Japanese police force is currently using this as the standard firearm. Here's a better picture from Joshi Deka!:
This is a scaled down picture; in the original you can actually see the 'P230' and 'Made in W(???) Germany' insignias.

Technically, that's a P230SL.
Edit: the P230 is discontinued, it was replaced by the P232. The older P-series Sigs are made in what was West Germany, my P225 and P228 also have the W Germany roll marks. The newer Sig just say "Made in Germany"

ok, saw the first two eps, and i'll have to agree with what concertmaster said at the top of the page. the plots are already making me 'meh', and well, im not too fond of the technical advisor. the

fly through the air to block the bullet just in time is way over used. and I think there was a mistake somewhere because the gun that first came out of the silver case wasn't the same as the one used in the press conference.
I'll give it another few eps to see if they can at least pull the end of ep 3 out, but im not giving it much faith, from the previews, it's already souring my taste.
If I could ignore this drama has any logic, the story is quite ok.
If I could ignore Tsutsumi Shinichi looked so tired in this film, the murderer's tools are better worth to watch.
If I could ignore Okada Junichi is a bit puny compared to his colleagues, I could perhaps focus on the best part of the drama - that is the theme song: V6 uway of lifev

All I can say is that it seemed very promising at the start but it's just turned me off. Certainly not worth watching despite Tsutsumi Shinichi being in it.
