I'm pretty confident that this drama will be a hit, though ratingwise I'm pretty sure it will lag behind the Shingo-Yuko vehicle though.

^^Why do you think that Shingo's drama will fair better than this? Just cause he is in SMAP?

Nope, they are both Fuji TV. HachiKuro is on Tuesday, Bara no nai Hanaya on Monday.

Because it's a Monday night dorama, FujiTV's most coveted slot.

Because it's Yuko Takeuchi's first drama in 4 years.

And also because Shingo has never had any dorama with average ratings lower than 20% since 2000 except for Shinsengumi, which is still higher than some taiga this decade.

When he's the guest in Galileo, that episode became only the second highest-rated episode of the drama since the first one with 23.6%.

In SMAP, Shingo and Nakai are considered the other 2 heavyweights who can guarantee high ratings besides Kimura.

That's a track record that is fact, not fiction. I might be wrong of course, but Shingo has proven himself to be a rating-winner, while none of the stars in this drama has it. But Hachikuro is based on popular anime, so it has that advantage.
