Yes they do... know i see it !!
And yes!! Toma's facial expressions are great !!! you can know (well in some way) what's happening just by watching him !!
I think they did a good job with the cast.

From what I've read on Japanese and Chinese forums, the show is almost universally bashed by the manga/anime fans because it has lost the essence of the manga and the characters in the drama are acting totally out of character vs those in the manga/anime.
Given the fact that the manga is as popular, if not more popular, than Nodame, I can understand their feelings. I would be equally outraged if my favorite manga/novel is totally butchered in the live action adaptation. There's also rumors of heavy-handed approach by the director(s) in terms of dictating how the actors/actresses should act.
If you make drastic changes to the original story and the characters, don't call it HachiKuro to attract the manga fans and then profess your innocence or complain when you incur their wrath. Contrast this w/ Nodame's live action adaption which stayed fairly faithful to the manga and got great ratings.
