They have the time to do so, and I'm hoping they prove me wrong. It's just that at this point, all we see is an abusive guy who offers kids pastries, wears a suit and tie nearly everytime he's on screen, runs after taxis and apparently has a deep, infuriating hatred towards liars, and girlfriends who don't show up on time. Hard to sympathize just yet. Dig deeper into his tortured soul, if he has one, and perhaps he could just be seen as a tragic consequence of what happens when parents aren't around. Perhaps then viewers can sympathize with him, or at least understand more of his character. Who knows, perhaps the pastry scene is the door opening to that point, and we'll get more layers of Sousuke's character. That'd be sweet to say the least. Certainly they're trying to portray him as more than a one-dimensional character, but it just hasn't worked so far.
Exactly.
The only thing I'm looking forward to right now is how far they go to develop Takeru's story. They hinted at it again in episode 6, and it looks to be a major part of the next episode.
Again, we're back to Sousuke being who he is, but without any clue as to why. I'm guessing it'll be the same in the next one. Not holding out a lot of hope for this part of the story. I could be wrong, but it's not like they've done a whole lot to convince me that there's more meat to this... er... meal.
Maybe I just have to stop watching the previews at the end.
Something that worries me about the show, regarding the mass casting going on for episode(s) 10/11 which they're going to film next week:
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
They're casting for a large amount of people to make up the audience for Ruka's motocross tournament. For the actors/actresses appearing, they only outright state Ueno Juri, Eita and Mizukawa Asami. Although they do say "other," the lack of Nagasawa Masami is a little wearying. I hope she's a surprise or something, because otherwise I might bash my head into the wall. Assuming that Michiru is off with Sousuke or something...
This doesn't bode well because they specifically say it's for eps10/11, the last two episodes! Is this a tournament that takes place overseas (in America) or something? Then again, if it's that late in the series, that might be the last "flashback" scene and we'll move on to the present.
I'm not going to speculate too much because it'd be nice to be surprised, but I just thought I'd throw that bit of info out there.

It's a sad story. Here, I know we have something called battered person syndrome that many states recognize. It's not a total defense, but it can be a decisive factor in sentencing or picking the crime
Hmm.. maybe Michiru saws up Sousuke. Thats's why there's so much discussion about the 12th ep. They aren't sure they want to show her actually cutting the limbs off Ryou.
u knwo i will also pay to see that
now that will bring some action _________________

Actually, that verdict could very well be why they cut out an episode if you think about it. I mean, I remember back when Sexy Voice & Robo cut out an episode solely due to the plotline being too close to something that happened in real life around the time it was supposed to air. Last thing I'm sure the writers of LF wants is to have extreme retaliation like that woman have happen in real life...
...then again, as it was pointed out, if this show was anywhere near realistic (fantastic first episode, but as pointed out it started going into the 'okay, that's just stupid' realm), there'd be police or beatdowns already going on. But meh, whatcha gonna do?

I finally got a chance to watch the first episode and I'm already sucked into it. It's amazing how much Ueno Juri looks like Utada Hikaru in this drama. Must be the hair. And if I were Michiru, I'd drop that Johnny's jerk and go for Juri. She's much cuter too. And I like Dumbo in this drama. He reminds me of this guy I had a teeny crush on who's kinda hot, yet kinda odd, not to mention, he used to be a hairdresser at one point in his life. _________________

Juri-chan is much better looking.
I agree.
And I'm wondering if it's just my authoring or something, but the first episode has a 1-second delay between the pic and sound, which is slightly annoying. The second episode started out pretty good, but towards the middle (after the scene where Michiru attempts to cut jackass's hair) the pic, the subs, and the sound are waaaaay off. I wonder if it's just the softsubs version of if it's my authored version. _________________

Hmm, I haven't noticed any problem with my hardsub...

I've always thought Juri would make a good Sailor Jupiter. Her character in this one is more Sailor Uranus hough. Ah, Sailor Moon...
Hehe, she's a little bit of both, I think.

Oh wait, you're using ConvertX...
Did you hardsub it yourself using the softsubs? Or did you download the already hardsubbed version?
Finished episode 2 and the delay on the sound is really irritating, so I'm going to stop watching this show, which sucks because it's really getting interesting. _________________

Wait! I've called dibs on Eita in this drama.
I've been thinking about the drama lately, and I think the overall theme IS DV and how people around the situation deal with it. I think the promotion of the drama was misleading. Like mostly everyone else, I thought Ryou's role would be small. Sorta like the stepping stone to setting the plot in action. However, since it appears that he's popping up everywhere (i'm only on epi 4, mind), I figure this whole DV thing is the premise of the whole show.
I'm really disappointed by this, moreso because there was little warning. I thought it was going to be more focused on the characters in the shared house, not how DV effects lives. Which is fine, just underhanded the way it popped up.
Hopefully I'll be proven wrong, but from what I've read in this thread about the next few dramas, I don't know if I will be. _________________

agree to that..
not to mention her name Ruka is almost the same with that of Sailor Uranus which is Haruka..and guess what? her partner, Sailor Neptune's name is Michiru.. _________________

Maybe the same with the original issue where the episode 1 softsubs weren't syncing with the 720P raw?
