Nothing to be really nervous about... It's not like your life depends on the job or something... Just enjoy yourself.... It's only a part-timer. If things don't work out, learn from your mistakes and move on. Smile

3) be serious at work and at the same time, take it easy. it's only your first time anyway.
4) do NOT be late for work! Sweat
5) gambaroo~ o(^_-)O

just remember that if you happen to have a sucky boss or a lack of sleep, come and rant here. we'll always be there to hear for you! hehe Sweat

I've never had a part-time job, but 'Racer's advice seems pretty sound -- make your mistakes in the part-time job, move on. I would add that make sure they're responsible mistakes . . . after all, that "part-time job" can act as a good or bad reference depending on the impression you end up giving, to be honest about it.

In my experience . . . sometimes you're given assignments or projects or missions where, on purpose or otherwise, you don't have the corporate (or other type of establishment -- government, education, military, WHATever) knowledge or experience to satisfactorily complete the task at hand.

In those cases . . . ALWAYS ask questions. Look over the material first so that you have good questions . . . but never leave things to chance. The boss may sound like s/he's confident when s/he's giving you the work, but may mean something else entirely. Ask questions. Formulate it with a "OK, if I do it this way ___________, is THAT what you want as the end product?"

I mean, you may have great grades and all (again, this is with regard to my own experience, buhahahahahhaha, OK, OK, I know, I know, "shaddup, braggart) but, the aforementioned in true whenever you begin a job.

After all . . . in such cases, we become "freshmen" all over again. Wink

P.S. STAY AWAY from the office gossip. For me this was easy . . . someone just started talking about another person and, you know what, I just played stupid, like "oh, yeah . . . oh, yeah, haha . . . yeah." And, I've never had to bother with it since. They might very well be talkin' 'bout me (which I kinda' doubt as folks in my dept. and other parts of the company "LIKE ME, THEY REALLY LIKE ME!!!" [with apologies to Sally Field]), but at least I don't have to engage IN the gossip.

stay away from office gossip. get along with people and do your job and you'll be all right. ask questions if you're not sure about something. relax and focus on the job and use your head while you're doing your work and you'll be fine.

i've hard part time jobs, temp jobs, and regular jobs. this is the best way to work, from my experience. good luck! you'll do fine.

Getting along with people is a major thing in work.. if you cannot get along with them/ lots of office politics, then work will be hell too.. Shake Head
