Well, the award isn't invalidated if it's a poll-based popularity contest, which the Nikkan Sports Grand Prix apparently is. My beef is with the names of the categories: they ought to change the "Best" to "Favorite." That way, nobody can pretend that these awards are more about merit than they are about... the power of TEH FANGARLZZZ!!!! Yeah

I mean, you don't hear anyone complain when someone like Zac Efron or any of his fellow Disney Channel munchkins (spiritually akin to our very own Johnnies, ehh? hehe ) sweep the Teen Choice or Kids' Choice Awards, ne? Nobody harbors any delusions about the credibility (or lack thereof) of these events, the Idols/dramas with the biggest voting bloc (lol) win, the fans go home happy, and democracy triumphs in the end. Yay yay yay. Mr Green

If Nikkan Sports actually ditches all pretense to respectability and disambiguates the awards categories, we can expect more "populist" awards such as Favorite Kiss, or Choice Hottie (Male, Female, and... Johnny, lol). I'd LOVE that! Twisted

Well, whatev. Deserving or not, I still like YamaPi and I'm watching BUZZER BEAT once I'm done with my current stash of dramas. Beaten

Agreed.

We need to get a petition started.

i survived 6 episodes of this drama. i'm sorry but i don't like the idea of it turning into a love story after episode 2. didn't think yamapi's character won me over too.

and so i was rather shocked by the number of awards it won. =0

"Turning"??? It was marketed as a Romance. If you thought differently then you have been deceived.

Now I wonder if there are people who didn't even start with this because they thought it was a sports drama. The basketball is important, but it's not the focus.

Agree although I didn't even finish this thing.
I'll probably be bored watching Pi trying to woo a normal girl.

Do not worry. You aren't the only one deceived by its genre.

I'm expecting more of teh basketball scene. Oh well...
If there's something I love in this, is that this made me missed Yamapi and Aibu Saki and got made me watch jdramas again.

i found the drama actually better than i thouht it'd be ... i really liked kitagawa keiko during the first half of the drama, she made the whole show a bit special~ but yamashitas performance was just -NOT- good. he shouldn't play romantic dramas >_< everytime they kissed it looked like he had to force himself to do something really disgusting.
