Hallo. Hallo. I am Ender's Girl. I am a girl. I like boys. And pretty boys.
Interesting observation (from a relative J-Ent newbie): I had NO idea there were so many Jdorama fanboys populating the earth. This K-drama refugee recalls a disproportionately large female-to-male ratio over at Soompi. Here, it's pretty even. Wonder why that's so, when there are actually more "pretty" K-actresses than J-actresses...

What you mean by "pretty boys"? Effeminate guys?
Seems to me there are lots of those in Japan.

Yea, I'm a K-Ent refugee as well. I'm surprised there was so many more females at those K-sites (like Soompi). I have to disagree with the actresses though ... there are just as many if not more beautiful J-celebs as there are K-celebs, IMO.

Yah. At first I was taken aback (read: repelled) by the bishonen obsession. But, well, you get used to it. I wouldn't go as far as all that bishonen-ai stuff, though. I still want 'em as hetero as *possible*...

(Hee hee! And... the Soompi fugitives come out of the woodwork... )
As for the K vs J Beauty Battle, I probably just haven't seen enough Jdorama yet. But from most of the J-dramas I've watched, the actresses whom I liked terribly made an impression because their faces had character, not necessarily because I found them conventionally beautiful. Whereas in K-Ent, the prettiness seems more standardized.

If by "pretty" you mean "plastic," then yes, there are more K-actresses that fit that description.
I don't know what the comparative stats are for cosmetically enhanced J- and K-celebs, though I'm quite sure the practice straddles both sides of the Korea Strait. But yeah, K-actresses seem more... homogeneously pretty, I suppose. If that can be taken to mean "plastic-pretty," I won't argue with that.

Really? Kewl. You're the first person I've met who's like that. Hurray for scholarship before escapism! How very admirable... I think for the rest of us philistines, it was the other way around, lol...

Yep, you can thank jdorama.com for my Jdrama obsession. IIRC, I created an account because I wanted to ask a question in the Learn Japanese forum. 3 years and 10K posts later, here I am I was anime-obsessed and read at a forum about a live-action version of GTO around the same time I'm still learning to speak/read/write Japanese too
