I've just started watching Tatta Hitotsu no Koi (Just One Love), and based on that opening episode my reaction is... Why?

Why was this written? Why were those people cast? Why should I continue watching this show?

BUT!

This show was written by Eriko Kitagawa. THE Eriko Kitagawa who wrote:

Long Vacation

Orange Days

Beautiful Life

Over Time

Ordinary People

One Million Stars Falling From the Sky

Great Googly-Moogly! Any show written by that woman has to be brilliant! Doesn't it?

Well, that's the theory I'm working with, so I'll watch to the end before making up my mind.

Ms Kitagawa has built up a lot of credit with me, as a writer. And if this does turn out to be a dud... well, nobody's perfect.

this dorama is daymn good. it has one so many strong characteristics. i just love how everyone falls for Kondo's character.

I fell for Katori Shingo's acting. he's excellent!

Wait a second. Ayase Haruka is the star. Just her being in it makes it a must see.... at least for me. After Crying Out Love In the Center Of the World series, if Ayase chan stood there for 11 episodes and said nothing, I would watch it over and over. She is my number 2 all time favorite after Kuninaka Ryoko chan.

Shinsengumi episode 23

nearly hitting the 3rd season. it gets better everytime. until now, this is definitely the dorama with the best plot i've ever seen so far! Applaud and i just love the casts. i'm already thinking of giving it 10/10, and i'm not even up to the bloody parts yet.

and if i'm not mistaken, she actually worte it FOR HIM! yes, for Kblehablehmblehe! And it triggered the stupid comparison talk on Kame and Takuya Kimura by the press Tired.
I love the story of Tatta Hitotsu no Koi, but i don't feel anything for the casts. except for Kokki's acting, his facial exressions for his character were pretty entertaining.

and, no. not that i've seen all the doramas listed above, but i didn't find Beautiful Life entertaining at all

Ralph

I find myself on the fence, regarding Haruka Ayase. She did a good job in hCrying outch. Butc I was still on the fence.

Then came h Byakuyakouh . For the most part she was back to playing the sweet, gentle, fuzzy bunny, ingenue. But toward the end of the series, the story called for her to occasionally allow the veil to drop, showing the viewer who / what her character had become. That being a hard, cold, ruthless woman.

Therefs a scene (toward the end) where she decides to seduce Watabe Atsurofs character.
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

She had me there. When she switched from being a fuzzy bunny, to a sleek, sharp, sophisticated, woman. In those moments, she just jumped off the screen and threatened to knock me forever off that fence.

But now, here she is, in hTattach. Back to playing the sweet, gentle, somewhat childish ingenue. And Ifm having trouble buying it.

Ifm not done with the show yet, but I canft help thinking that it would have been better if Erika Toda (gGirl Circleh and gEngineh) and Yuuta Hiraoka (gMedakah and gSwing Girlsh) –- both supporting players in this series – had been cast as the leads.

And itfs never a good sign when you watch a show always thinking who might have done a better job with the lead roles.

Really?! Have you seen Swing Girls?

Geezer wrote:
I just finished Brother Beat.

I started downloading the hard subbed files months and months ago simply because Ryoko Kuninaka was in it. I'd watched pretty much all of Churasan, and shallow old Geezer that I am, I just wanted another chance to stare at that beautiful girl.

But during the months it took to collect the entire series, I stumbled upon a couple of Misako Tanaka's older series... shows like "Age 35" and "Tomoko to Tomoko" and became a huge fan.

After watching her work in Brother Beat, all I can say is I now put her in the same class as Tomoko Yamaguchi and Atsuko Asano. And that's about the highest praise I can think to give an actress.

Jeez-oh! That lady is amazing!

The story, the writing, of "Brother Beat" was a nice little run of the mill Japanese family comedy/drama. The three actors who played Tanaka's sons were... alright. To be honest, those parts probably could have been played by any 3 actors in the bull pen, and the results would have been the same.

But getting to watch Tanaka work was a gift.

And oh yeah, Ryoko Kuninaka is still breath taking. And to make the show even more fun... she did a great job playing the mousie little love interest.

O! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I downloaded this one for Ralph, but I've never seen it myself. My brother, who is also in live with Ryoko, said the drama was really good. Now I have even more reasons to watch it. Thanks!

The effect that Ayase had on me in Crying Out Love apparently was much more volcanic than on nearly everybody eles. She was so incredibly outstanding that I cannot think of her as Aki without getting chills.

Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

I think she has been severely handicapped by her male costar who is hopelessly out of her league which in turn makes her look bad in this drama. After all she cannot do a monologue for umpteen episodes.
But as I said after Crying out Love, I am so enamored of her deep deep charisma that I am happy just to see her in any drama.

I expect the effect was softened for me since I'd seen the movie before seeing the series. I won't rip the TV series, but I thought the movie did a much better job of telling that story.

By the way... if you haven't seen it yet, Ayase did a pretty nice job in the "Hero Special". It's a fairly small supporting role, and as "Specials" go... well -- it's not very good. But I expect an Ayase fan would enjoy it.

Watching Hana Yori Dango 2, episode 4. Though it's a decent drama, all the misunderstandings and people not speaking up about their true feelings really irks me. U Suck
