For whatever my recommendation is worth, Odoru daisousassen has it. It's easily one of the best Television shows I've seen.
I've posted this stat before, but I'm more than happy to post it again: in a 2001 poll of Japanese TV viewers, Odoru Daisousassen was voted the number one all-time favorite dorama.
Yuji Oda is definitely the lead, and he does a good job, but the strength of this 1997 show is the excellent ensemble cast, a great mixture of topnotch veteran character actors (Takehiko Ono, Toshiro Yanagiba, Soichiro Kitamura, Chosuke Ikariya, just to name a few) and younger leading-actors-to-be (Eri Fukatsu, Miki Mizuno, Yusuke Santamaria, Ryoko Shinohara [in a cameo]). Ostensibly a cop show, its emphasis is more on characterization than on crimes and is a prime example of a time when quality writing and quality acting actually mattered in dorama.

Not to mention when they cast actual actors and not the latest J-Pop Idols
I know. I love that!!
Just watched the live action Prince Of Tennis.
Im watching the anime for the second time around so I had to see it.
Cute as can be would be my description. Some of the computer animation was quite well done, and the casting was very good for snarky little Echizen and Captain Tezuka.

Hitting Ushi Ni #3 tonight, finished HanaKimi #5 during lunch (superb!), and still waiting on that hardsub of Sushi Oji.
In the meantime, I'm gonna fire up my torrent box at work and start grabbing that Odoru Daisousassen. It sounds right up my alley after reading the synopsis, so if there's a lag from the fansubbers on the shows I'm watching currently, it'll fill the empty space, hehe.
That means I'd be watching a total of 9 different shows at the same time this summer, bwahahahaha. HARDCORE!!

Sexy Voice & Robo episode 8
LOVE!!!
..an episode lost
"episode 7 was skipped and was not aired because the episode resembled tragic events in real life. therefore, since it was not aired, it could not be subbed. unfortunate, it would have been a good episode too."
SVnR is fabulous. It somehow reminded me of Kudo Kankuro work with slower pacing (which is not a bad thing sometimes). Interestingly the screenwriter, Kizara Izumi, was in charge of turning the novel Nobuta wo Produce into a great live action adaptation. Looking forward to see more if his work.
HanaKimi ep4 subbed by SARS
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Still possessed caped dorm leader, meatheads & lots of ikemen!

Be careful...there are some here who would call you obsessive..but not me, I'm only watching 5...
I think of it this way: with all those people watching those stupid reality shows this summer (I can name at least 6 off the top of my head) at the same time, I feel I'm justified, lol. Besides, when you break it down, it's not really like I'm stuck inside all day watching them, heh. Only watching one a night (if I got good enough self control) means I still have a life, heh.
After summer is up, I may go back and watch SVnR. I've heard so many people watching it and liking it, there's gotta be somethin about it. Maybe during the slower Fall/Winter season.

I've got Odoru Daisousassen. I think I'm going to watch this next. Instead of the highly recommended Shomuni 2
What a great option!
And not for nothin' but... I think one of the main reasons I love Shomuni so much is that I spaced the shows out when I watched them. I didn't want to, it's just the way it worked out. I saw Shomuni 2 first on the local Asian TV station. A year later I found a copy of Shomuni 1 on ebay. And a year after that I stumbled upon jdorama.com and found out there was a Shomuni 3. The time between kept me from getting Shomuni'ed out.
By the way... If you like Odoru Daisousassen, the series was followed by two blockbuster theatrical movies, and at least a half dozen specials. The movies go by the "Bayside Shakedown" title in the U.S.
On topic...
I'm in the mood for some 90's goodness, so I'm gonna start "Saigo no Koi" tonight. _________________
