For those who saw Brother Beat, this is Misako Tanaka playing basically the same character... 10 years earlier. She's the broke but fiesty single mom of three boys. Only in the earlier version, her character gets married.
Both shows were written by Eriko Komatsu. The same lady who wrote Tokyo Elevator Girl. And "Oishii Puropozu"
By the way... the guy Tanaka marries in "Second Chance" is played by Hidekazu Akai. The neighbor from "Tokyo Elevator Girl".
It's fun when good writers get to hook up with actors they like, time and time again. _________________

I finished Hana Kimi last night. Fun drama, but the repetitiveness slightly bugged me. I'd give it an 8.5/10, but since you have to round things off here, it's more of an 8 than a 9 to me. _________________
She was tolerable in Tsuhanman, but mostly because she was just a side character. I'm afraid to watch Anna-san now.
I dunno if this will make you feel better, but Oyaji and I liked it.

Finished "Fake Bride"... and I have to say that ultimately... I was disappointed.
Awwwww that's too bad! Mind you, I mentioned while watching that you can't take this drama seriously, hence why I enjoyed it. I took it in swing and for me it was a light breather between two heavy dramas. But I can see exactly what you're talking about. She really did try.

I'll try to simmer down next time.

OMG! I really enjoyed Golden Bowl!!! It's a slow one that sorta creeps up on you. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Finally the last episode of Koshonin was subbed. I was overall disappointed in the show. It had good parts but I just felt like it was trying too hard to be a tough cop show. A lot of the stuff seemed a little ridiculous and it was just a pain to watch Yonekura Ryoko. She is beautiful but her eyes kept looking like they were going to bulge out of her head. I just wanted to tell her to relax.

Thats why Im looking forward to watching Brother Beat. I really enjoyed Second Chance.
We just finished Kazoku -tsuma fuzai oto no sonzai. It was good but not great. The actors played their roles well, and the story was absorbing but still... but still.....
Im a big Yutaka fan but both my BF and I gave it 7.5/10. Like I said it's good but not great. _________________
I've always wanted to see that drama. A plus is that the theme song was that popular Okamoto Mayo song.

That's good to know. It did look amusing from what I saw when I checked the discs, but at the same time, I'm afraid of too much Beckyism.

That sounds like a drama to cross off my long list of things to watch. Glad I'm narrowing it down. _________________
Thanks for the link...even though it doesnt work!!, but I was able to find the website and d/led the first 9 eps in about 5 hours...Megaupload got wise to me and made me wait 2 hours to d/l the last ep, but I got it all...
That livejournal site has a helluva lot of stuff, including some dramas CR deleted because of TBS demands... _________________

Eve
If you liked "Second Chance" I really think you'll enjoy "Brother Beat".
In the second show they tried to make it more about the boys and their love lives. But Tanaka is such a joy playing the Haru character...
Cori
Well. I still owe you a disc.

There's nothing more serious than comedy.
Quick note:
I've just started Honey & Clover... and son of a gun, I think I'm going to enjoy it!
I downloaded it partly because it was there, and partly because Sars was doing the subs and I think they do quality work. (And they tend to finish what they start.)
But I wasn't that optomistic about yet another show focused on the loves and friendships of a bunch of college kids.
But I have to admit... I've enjoyed what I've seen so far. _________________

Why "boo"? Is it because I'm cutting it out of my "to watch" list based on what peachy said?

Do you? I think my computer/burning program was at fault though. If anything, I owe you for all those discs you sent me, but any time you want to trade, I'm up for it.

I heard that it gets slow in the middle. I'm curious to know your opinion though.
On topic: Watched the 6th episode of Atsu-hime and I'm liking it, but I can see why the Taiga purists dislike this one.
Also watched the first 20 minutes of Koibumi and it seems like a depressing one so far. I'm not really in the mood for depressing, so I wonder why the heck I popped this one in. I guess the title threw me off. _________________

Started watching Asakusa Fukumaru Ryokan with Nishida Toshiyuki...he's awesome as usual...anybody who's seen him in film or TV, will know what I'm referring too. Highly recommended drama set in old world Tokyo...shitomachi (downtown) to be exact.

That show was broadcast the past 11 weeks on KXLA-44...
I recorded it, only to find that someone had it for download (recorded from the same station) on D-Addicts.
