Gonzo, ep6. This just gets better. The forth episode was superb. Great writing, you get the feeling that the supporting and guest characters are real people, rather than a just means of progressing the plot or filling time. There has also been a reduction in the amount of wackiness which has improved things no end. Best show of the season.
Xenos, up to episode 6. As this is a late night Tokyo TV show there is the prerequisite oppai and dodgy acting from gravure and AV idols, but beyond the boobies there is a rather good revenge/mystery thriller with a twisty plot that's progressing nicely. It is much darker and seedier than the usual J-drama. The direction and editing frequently flips between inept and inspired, but when they get it right there is a real disquieting quality to the show.

Watching Kasouken no Onna 3. How did I finish the others already? No Junko in this one. I liked Junko. Too bad she turned out to be Takeru's older sister! _________________
Here's the theory: Iijima Naoko is sexy enough to carry any show. Shishido Jo is and always will be one of the coolest movie stars that ever lived, so any chance to see him work on TV is worth the effort. It'll be fun to see Isono Kiriko do something other than a game show.
The theory was wrong wrong wrong.
This show is... an Ode to Natto. An overwrought, melodramatic tribute to the noble bean.
This show is... horribly boring.
I've watched 4 of the 5 episodes. I don't drink heavily enough to watch the 5th.
Which of course leads me into the other show I just finished.
Jigoku no Sata mo Yome Shidai gMy Monster-In-Lawh
I think Sano Shiro is a very funny guy when given something to work with.
I also think they should all go and apologise to Yamaguchi Tomoko.
This is a classic case of "What the hell were they thinking?/Who signed off on this?/Does Esumi Makiko need money that badly?"
On topic: Just started Ushi ni Negai wo: Love and Farm O.K., it's the typical city kids meet the country cliche coupled with estranged father and son cliche, but it's actually not too bad so far.

Hoshi no Kinka episode 1-4
I put off watching this for a long time, mainly due to the many frustrated reviews for this drama on this site. Despite the terribly cliche setup/plot, it really pulled me in, but I also wanted to skip a lot of the scenes without Aya. The cast was terrific in this. Noriko Sakai impressed me immediately in her very first scene here, and the character of Takumi is pretty interesting too. Will continue watching.

Yup. It's loaded with cliches. But I enjoyed it.
Re: Jigoku no Sata mo Yome Shidai gMy Monster-In-Lawh
I had to watch it. It's Esumi.
Most frustrating part:
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
They set Nogiwa Yoko up in a double role. She was the classic pain in the butt traditional Mother-in-law. And she also played Esumi's mother. A non traditional, goofy, artsy-fartsy TV writer. With Sano Shiro playing her butler/man friday.
But after the first episode... they pretty much forgot about that character. Nogiwa and Sano could have had a ball playing those characters. But they really only made one appearance in the show after that first episode.

Welcome to the forum, that's a pretty good drama. When you finish that one, you might want to try Seigi no Mikata it has Mirai Shida in a completely different role. For only 15 years old, she is incredibley talented.

What a waste.
That would've been so much better if they had Shiro on that show as a regular because he just makes every show better with his hilarious roles. Having him and Nogiwa banter back and forth would've made it at least watchable.

Hoshi no Kinka episode 8
Great performance from Noriko Sakai. This was compelling at the beginning when the story focussed on Aya, but after that ... I wanted to give up watching many times. The plot was ordinary, and I was not interested in the characters too (apart from Aya). Osawa Takao's role was particularly thankless. A lot of Aya's writing were not translated in the version that I am watching... That's it for me. Judging from the reviews, it sounds like a depression without relief until the end of the second series.

I have finished and posted my review for Pride. Probably my favorite Kimura Takuya drama yet.
And Yuko Takeuchi was adorable and also a fine contribution to the drama. There is something about her I find absolutely delightful! I want one of my own! _________________

Have you watched Lunch no Jyou? Yuko Takeuchi was absolutely bubbly and delightful in it. That's my favorite character played by her.
Just finished Gonzo 7. I love the actress who played Kyoko. She's Ikewaki Chizuru right?

I don't have an answer for you, but I just wanted to mention that Ikewaki Chizuru is the most underrated actress I know. She's absolutely brilliant. _________________
