Worth re-reading then? excellent, I just bought it..
I always re-read all seven books before a movie comes out, but they tricked me this time around by moving the release date to the summer. It was still fun to re-read them all again tho.
On Topic: Okay, so I'm actually sitting down to watch Shinsengumi epi 18 now. _________________

Remember the episode of Jikou Keisatsu where Atsuko Sakurai (of Shomuni fame) played the Math teacher who couldn't write her own papers because her Japanese language skills were so bad?
Maki Yoko was the murder victim in that episode. I think she might have had three lines.
Re: Maki Yoko. Just my opinion, but I think she's probably the most talented, and best trained actress of her generation. I've never seen anyone on Japanese TV with her kind of range.[/b] _________________

Yeah, I went I watched that episode again (episode 8) She has almost as much screen time as Gary Cooper had in Wings, kind of hard to make any judgement based on that

Kindaichi season 1 and Furuhata Ninzaburo season 1. Lately I've been in the mood to watching self-contained mystery shows. Which is good because I don't have to watch them in order. I think it was ep 9 of Furuhata that I just saw. Hilarious!
By the way, someone uploaded the Kindaichi season 1 english subs that look like they were ripped from a bootleg dvd set. They're not good from what I saw. Hmm... I may have found my next project to work on.

Ooh, that would be awesome.
On topic: Watched up to episode 4 of Haken no Hinkaku. Kind of reminds me of The Chef at times when the main character does the impossible to save the day.
Also watched the last episode of Hyoten 2001 and Dragon Zakura, 4th episode of Otoko no Kosodate, and going to watch another Haken episode later tonight. _________________

and i'm starting an older dorama News no onna! I'm really excited about this one!
Yeah, News no Onna is great. It takes a little while to get going but stick with it.
In an effort to increase my appreciation for Yoko Maki, I've started Tokyo Friends. Only finished ep 1. Looks more like a vehicle for Ai Otsuka at this point which might not be a bad thing, she's surprisingly good. One thing I do know:

Whenever there's an inter-band romance it ALWAYS leads to breaking up the band

Takky's masterpiece (Seriously!)!
Did you already finish the Ringu series? How was it?
With Takky they thought, "Well, he's just starting out, he'll get better." They were WRONG
Re; Ringu It was pretty good, it kind of dragged towards the end, it was 12 episodes and the last episode was an hour and 10 minutes, they really didn't need to make it that long but overall, I liked it.

Shukan Maki Yoko Ep. 4. Different....
After the seeing chat about this show over the last few days, I've watched the first couple. After watching the opening credits, I was expecting something light and fluffy, but they turned out to be serious, dark and adult, which was a pleasant surprise. There was also the previously mentioned attention towards Maki Yoko's rather ample assets. I was impressed enough to plan to download and watch the rest, especially as you don't get that many standalone half-hour long TV plays.
I also watched the first two episodes of Nanase Futatabi. It's an OK supernatural drama, it's a bit wordy, but well paced. The sci-fi jdoramas I've seen so far have been pretty bad, but this one holds your interest, and makes you want to watch the next episode. The music is by Kawai Kenji, so that's another reason to keep watching.
