Episode 6 of Top Sales.

Im signed up for the whole thing. The actors are good. The storyline is not that interesting but I like the lead. Something about her smile. Makes me want to see the rest. It doesnt seem to have much substance but Im not looking for that currently. Beaten

Eve,

I just watched a show that I think you'll like. "Cat Street".

I don't have a copy. I watched it on a streaming site. But if you've got it you might take a look.

As for Top Sales. Oh heck, I watched all of it. The writing was too thin for my tastes, but the cast was terrific.

I think I may have sent Eve "Cat Street"

Or maybe not. I do have it though.

"Second Chance" (1995) & "Brother Beat" (2005) were both written by Eriko Komatsu. Both she and Tanaka wanted to revisit that character 10 years later. The lively, single mom raising three boys.

Oh, I see. Thanks for the info.

I wimped out after watching the first episode a long time ago, but this should be really good, particularly for Shinohara Ryoko's fans.

Yeah. And I looked up her next drama... but it doesn't sound too promising.

Both Yui and Kimura Yoshino are in it, but the premise...

Quote:
Sayama Michio is a young and callous beautician who will stop at nothing to fulfill his ambition(s). Coming from an impoverished background, he suddenly becomes the darling of the beauty world. He holds women who desire beauty captive and puts on several different faces when dealing with Murase Minako, the female owner of the place that he works at; Hatano Masako, a woman of leisure; and Fukuchi Fujiko, an editor of a weekly magazine to come out tops. He also gets involved with two detectives who are investigating him for a prior incident.

Seems more like a vehicle for Naohito Fujiki, but less so for the women in his orbit.

A big thank you to AD and Beem. Ive finished Top Sales. Everything said by Geez and Cereberus hit it on the nail. I was glad it was only 8 eps yet it held me.
And that always says a lot for me.
[size=9](I did get tired and fast forward just a little during the last ep.) [/siz]

@xploring- I really enjoyed Second Chance. The mom character was a blast.

Watched 4 episodes of Enka no Joou and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. Love Amami Yuki's character's dream-like scenes, especially when she kicks some butt. And I was shocked when I realized that her lame ex-bf was Okubo in Atsu-hime. Totally different characters, indeed. Shocked

I got up to ep 5 in Top Sales today. I'm enjoying it. Yes, they're being way too dramatic with the whole thing of the salesperson as a counselor and friend and bla bla bla but Natsukawa Yui is great as always.

It's a goldmine for Ryoko fans, but also for those who love Kobayashi Satomi...They share the female lead...it's almost like watching an acting competition...

This is an vastly unappreciated drama...It is superb!

I agree... I guess I'm less demanding than others.

True, there's some stuff that's overly melodramatic, but I find the historical subtext interesting... Smile

One thing: what is with Shibata's wife's hairdo? It's like something from the early 1960's... Crazy

^ so everybody has been watching Top Sales Mr Green . I'll be probably the last one, I'll only start it in a few weeks. I have a Taiwanese drama to finish and a few movies.

And I started to rewatch Golden Bowl (again Sweat ). Kaneshiro Takeshi has a movie out in Europe and before going to see it, I decided on a little warm-up with one episode of GB. Now I can't stop and have to watch all episodes.

PS: I put Triangle on permanent hold.

Is the movie Sweet Rain? It's pretty good, one of Manami's better efforts, it also has Sumiko (Junko) Fuji. I liked it.
OT: Finished epi 7 of Blue Bird wasn't really impressed up to this point but now
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
it's gotten me a lot more interested.

Kaneshiro has also been in a lot of Chinese movies lately (he's half Chinese and bilingual) and his latest is John Woo's Magnum Opus Red Cliff I & II. There'd been rumors of a 2.5 hr cut for the western audiences (trimmed down from 5 hrs) that will be shown in the European markets first (they've yet to find a distributor in the US). DVDs and Blu-rays are already available (part II this Friday) on yesasia and dddhouse.com. He's also in Wong Kar-wei's Chungking Express (one of his earlier movies); just re-watched it on Criterion's Blu-ray this weekend and I still consider it as one of my all time favorites.
