He always seems to play scoundrels, but with a good heart... I guess Kimutaku is the same, but he always has this neon sign hovering over him saying "I'm Kimutaku." Beaten

I can almost understand not liking Pride (which is close to my most favorite of dramas.... possibly second only to Churasan). If a gal is not taken with KimuTaku then she would have no interest in Pride. Most guys of course are overwhelmed with the ever gorgeous super talented Takeuchi Yuko. For me it's a double whammy. In my mind KimuTaku is the numero uno male talent on the Japanese screen today.... (covering ears at the inevitable dissents - sure shout Hiroshi Abe all you want... Each is superb in their own areas and age brakcets.... but KimuTaku has the edge).

Oh no, I had mildly high hopes for this one. I'm waiting for the hardsubbed version to come out so I don't have to download twice. Hopefully this is just another matter of personal taste, because I loved Muri na Renai.

Marspeach I hope you like it better than me. And yes, Enderfs Girl it had partly to do with Rat-Nest-Hair-Hiro, partly with the script.

I agree on the Jin though, the second episode was still interesting.

I am sorry Eve and Enderfs Girls. Ralph is right, I never warmed up to Kimura and that is my problem. I like a few Kimutaku dramas but here I had additional personal issues with the character of Aki.

Me too but I not the most worth trusty voice, it could be his looks.

OT: Keizozu episode one – quality isnft that great but it seems a much better cop drama than Tokyo Dogs.

Keizoku? With Nakatani Miki and Watabe Atsuro?

Absolutely one of my all time favorite shows. It's nutz. But I love it.

And if your working on the came copy I got... yeah, it's kind of dark and grainy. But that seems to be the best that's out there right now.

Someone uploaded a beautiful copy of episode #1 last year at d-addicts... and then just stopped there.

It was written and directed by the same goof ball who did "Trick". I hope you enjoy it.

I though he was the best in "Koi ni Ochitara" because I liked his attitude in it. Other than that, I wasn't impressed by his other roles in most of the other dramas he was in.

OT: Watched episode 5 of Ashita ga aru kara. The last scene was intense, but over all, this drama is still frustrating and I want to kill most of the characters.

Actually though I loved Pride I will also admit I have a total weakness for sports dramas. I also loved the Mighty Ducks. hehe

So you had issues with Aki, huh? Love to hear them.

Not much time for dramas lately Sad
I just re-watch parts of my favorite drama, Haikei, Chichiue-sama every now and then when I get the chance.

But, I did recently finish a very pithy three-piece tanpatsu called "Warareru Koi wa Shitakunai" from 2006. It's actually a Christmas drama, but it's never too soon to get into that yuletide cheer right Dancing Anyway, I really enjoyed this drama--it's uplifting but grounded in reality, humorous but occasionally heart-breaking. The casting was perfect too. Even Masuda Takahisa (Johnny alert!) really suited the role of the smiling idiot, but it was really Komoto Junichi, playing the role of a not-so-attractive guy who you wish would date you by drama's end, who really shined.

Best of all, the drama managed to sneak in Ryuchi Sakamoto's "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" in a really poignant scene. Any drama that can play Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence without screwing it up is good to me.

Here is a link to the dramawiki: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Waraeru_Koi_wa_Shitakunai

I don't think I did a good job of discussing this drama but I think a lot of people here might be able to enjoy it Dancing

@ runpup - thanks for the link - I only dled the first three episodes - still time to replace it with better quality.

rofl I wish! Mr Green If they ever DO remake it into a Jdorama it's probably gonna feel a lot like PRIDE meets... DRAGON ZAKURA meets HANA KIMI meets any of the GOKUSENS. Sweat

Wait. Were you serious? Never heard of that Disney film trilogy from the early '90s? Emilio Estevez + Queen + ice hockey? Sorry if I read you wrong. Bonk

ZOMG Eve, I SO TOO was a Mighty Ducks nut back in high school!!! Nut ("Ducks fly together!" w00t! ) And nobody even plays ice hockey in my country! Beaten Mighty Ducks 2 was my fave, because the international arena (the Junior Goodwill Games... "Iceland! Iceland!" lol) made the stakes much higher. The 3rd movie was a huge letdown because the Ducks were up against the prep school varsity team...so very ho-hum. And because Emilio Estevez doesn't show up until the last 5 minutes or so. Shake Head (My best friend and I actually dubbed the Blue Scorpions' demanding coach in PRIDE "Coach Orion," lol. hehe) I dunno, but I've always enjoyed watching dramas/movies situated around anything... frozen (Cool Runnings, The Cutting Edge, Ice Castles--okay maybe not Ice Castles, lol), and I like watching ice hockey--something about blood and guts spewed on ice fascinates me so much, and I always get the feeling I'm in some Norse myth, lol. Bonk

Well, I love sports dramas, period. Even if they're chock-full of clichés and conform to the same genre template regardless of country or sport. There's always the Gifted! But Conflicted! Hero, the Demanding Coach/Mentor, the Leading Lady/Cheerleader, the Arrogant Star Athlete from the Rival Team, the Wacky Teammates, etc. etc. And not to mention the Rousing Anthem that gets played like, every 5 minutes, heh heh. Mr Green

I love Queen. Lol.

OT:

Q.E.D. Episode 3. Wow, I feel like I'm ten again and I'm reading those Encyclopedia Brown stories. So Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective--er, the Idol-ish-looking Boy Genius from Q.E.D. (aided by his Sporty Female Sidekick) cracks cases that stump the police and veteran homicide detectives. But the thing is, I'm no longer ten. Rolling eyes And many elements of this drama feel more like the Bobsey Twins than Encyclopedia Brown, haha. Oh, well. Suspension of disbelief aside, I'm liking the fact that this isn't like those forensic procedurals whose focus is on evidence recovery--i.e. fingerprinting, DNA analysis, etc. etc., which can get tired after a while. I like that Q.E.D. is actually rather old school, and uses simple deduction to solve a case. Mysteries solved by logic are always more fulfilling in my book: Poirot/Sherlock Holmes would just sit by the fire and listen as Hastings/Watson reported their observations about the crime scene, and BAM!--mystery solved. Applaud So yeah, I'm sticking with this drama to see how it goes. Good

Oh, I'm good. I just do a Frank Sinatra, who would suck in little wisps of air through the side of his mouth while performing. Victory! Peace! And if that fails, one can always switch to... anaerobic respiration, ne? Mr Green
