Started ep 1 of Shinzanmono - pretty decent so far, Abe Hiroshi was solid as usual. Mehh on Kuroki Meisa, but it was a pleasant surprise to find Natsukawa Yui among the guest stars.
I liked Shinzanmono. It's good all the way through. _________________
oh my god Woman is really good. Also something about the filming style of this show is very cinematic, which unlike Oguri Shun's perm, is very fresh and nice to look at. _________________
Yeah, I guess the plot line isn't anything new, but I just love Ryoko's no-nonsense, take charge attitude... Strong, confident, intelligent women are terrific.
I'm on Episode 7 now, and things have gotten a little interesting with Daimon's manager and the director. I knew there was something fishy with that manager guy... _________________
Watching Tokyo Airport (Tokyo Kukou Kansei Hoanbu)... ...all about air traffic controllers. A no-nonsense, no-romance kind of drama shown last Christmas.....funny....That probably explains the low rating.

Naru Youni Naru Sa episode 2. Felt like it was over before I know it. Always a good sign. Enjoyed it a lot. Yoko's turnaround felt a little bit too abrupt for me, but reasonable I guess. A lot of social commentary/observations about modern families. It felt like everyone acted normally but Asano Atsuko acted playfully, but that still worked, somehow.
Finished Doctor X a few days ago. I think I'll try Priceless next. My brother watched it and had only good things to say, so here's hoping. _________________

Up to episode three of Woman - remains a quality watch but I have one little concern and that is:

it points towards a terminal illness storyline, hope I am wrong
Ack! I hope not. Up to episode two and it was really starting to develop, the step-sisters meet, there's hints that Shun isn't the caring/loving husband we'd been led to believe. (Anybody with hair like that has GOT to have some issues!)
On a slightly related note, first there was Mana Ashida, then Miyu Honda in 'Kaseifu no Mita', and now we've got Rio Suzuki. She was great as young Yae in 'Yae no Sakura' and I really like her in this as Nozomi. I dunno what the Japanese put in the water to make all these great young actresses, but I hope they keep doing it.
I had to giggle when Karina's character gets transfered to the History Somethingorother department. It was a callback/throwback to Shomuni FOR SURE! Even the setup of the basement department was identical to Shomuni. Intentional or not, I love it! _________________
@ Wynter: Choose Star Man. It started out alright, but got really good in eps 2 and 3!
Oh good! I have this one on my list, but I usually don't start a drama until all episodes are released. I don't like waiting for episodes. _________________

I also watched Starman up to episode 3. It's the other side of the Woman coin as it's also about a single mum. Silly comedy with magical elements about a mother of three meeting a cute guy with amnesia and a secret. Enjoyable but totally silly!
Woman episode 4, didn't enjoy that one very much because

well, first of all the disease seems to be confirmed and to the seasoned drama viewer there is nothing more tired than a fatal illness plot. Also they choose a disease where a family member probably has to donate bone marrow, which could serve as a macguffin in a way. But I could be wrong. Secondly because they played a nasty trick with the viewer in the beginning. On the plus side we get further revelations from Shiori and a cute side story involving a dog

^ 'Woman' episode 4 as well. And I think you're right, I'm pretty sure where we're headed with this.

I'll bet the rent check that Shiori ends up being Koharu's marrow donor. I hope I'm wrong, but after Tanaka told Shiori not to tell anyone about how Shun died, it'll probably go like this: Koharu finds out, we have the big fight scene, followed by the big reconciliation scene, followed by the transplant and everybody lives happily ever after. Or given the Japanese penchant for self-sacrifice, during the transplant process (I guess Tanaka could be a donor as well) the person doing the donating dies.
I liked Shinzanmono. It's good all the way through.
It's been interesting so far. I just finished ep 3 and am enjoying Abe Hiroshi's acting a lot. I thought it was one of those detective dramas where the cops investigate a murder every couple of episodes, but to my surprise it's more than that and I'm enjoying the little beats and slice-of-life stories.
Only Kuroki Meisa is annoying and I wish they'd gotten another actress. Oh well. _________________
I decided to go with Going My Home. Just finished a very long first episode, but I'm sold. I'm partial to this type of directing style, and who can say anything against the cast?!
Hopefully it'll hold up and maintain consistency. _________________

I just finished Kamisama, Mou Sukoshi dake and gosh, it was pretty difficult to finish it I think it had huge potential but the show didn't quite work, I'd say mostly because of Fukada Kyoko who is an incredibly bad actress...(okay, okay she was a teen but I got bored of that drama queen). It was too overdramatic, medically irrelevant (come on...I can't believe Japan in 1998 couldn't handle HIV???) and also I thought HIV+ people weren't allowed to enter the US at the time? Oh and well, and about the fact a 25/30 years dates a 16 years old teen is a bit sick haha...

Oh yeah and when he's about to sleep with hr despite she's HIV+ and says he can accept her totally..And sad music can be heard, it was meant to be super beautiful and a pure proof of love I guess but I think it's just plain stupid..
