Eve,
Next up for me; Sayonara, Ozu Sensei ("Goodbye Mr. Ozu")
I watched episode 1 last night, and the two things that stick out in my mind are:
1) Rats. Back to bizarro-land EngRish subs. (I can deal with them, but they are distracting.)
2) What the heck is going on in the High Schools in Japan? It's starting to seem like half the shows I've seen lately are about one noble teacher trying to win over a group of lazy, mean, disrespectful, plumb-dumb, High School kids.
Jeez, if the Japanese are really having this much trouble in their schools, it might be time to send in the Nuns. _________________

Not sure if this counts since everyone seems to be watching some Asian drama, but my friend brought over the boxset of Queer As Folk season 1. So far this looks like a really entertaining show, and of course I'm being turned onto it late.....the series finale aired this year. It ran 5 seasons.

Currently watching Odoru daisousassen and Sekachu. Odoru seems quite promising and Eri Fukatsu & Oda Yuji seems to be performing pretty well from the 1st 2 episodes i watched.. praying for the download to finish, grr wish that there were more ppl sharing it or opening up their bandwidth.sigh
Sekachu was kinda slow for me (epi 1 & 2), was expecting something more beautiful from all the glowing reviews. But gonna hang it there tho, think it shld pick up soon. Really like antics between the 2 leads that are starting up
Downloading Gokusen epi 1. Btw any fall or autumn dorama to recommend. Doesnt seem to have any that are hype up tho _________________

Currently halfway through Slow Dance. Like its name suggests, it starts off a little slowly but I really like the two lead characters and I keep getting a Long Vacation jibe from the drama. Love the musics and the drama makes u wanna keep watching to see who they eventually end up with...(and it's nice to see Ryoko Hirosue back)

if takako chan just moved in to my place, i'd be over the moon!!
yeah, hachi's place looks expensive.
lol...i see your point....yes, that area of tokyo, daikanyama is very expensive and trendy...
since you are fan of Matsu Takako, i am curious whether you've seen the film "The Hidden Blade?" It's from director Yoji Yamada, of Twilight Samurai fame and other films...her acting is quite good in the film.

scanned through episode 3 of Dragonzakura series, since it downloaded completely first of the series via BT, but no soft subs yet.
going to watch Ganbatte Ikimasshoi series and continue where i left off from last time.
dude you should use the search function...Dragonzakura 4 is also available with subtitles...and i don't think there are going to be soft subs for this series because that hasn't been discussed at length or confirmed.

Going to try watching SHotgun Marriage one more time. For some reason I can never get into it. Despite Yutaka being in it.
I brought 3 dramas on holiday for the next couple days. Hopefully one will cut it or Ill be watching anime. Always a hit, of course!!
I stopped watching the Kdrama Bright Girl's Success right away. The lead actress totally grates on me. She was in My Love Patzi too.
Le Parfum de Jalousie has in intriguing beginning but the subs are not too great. And I just watched another series like that so Im not in the mood yet for more deciphering.
Back to hoping I like SHotgun Marriage more this time around. _________________

Until last night I'd been watching, and trying my best to like Sayonara Ozu Sensei, but it was rough.
As I said earlier, it's just another version or the old, noble High School Teacher steps in and wins over the class full of Hooligans. And in the process forever changes the lives of not only the students, but of the other teachers as well.
Blah blah blah.
Okay, so Asaka Seto made watching easy by being her fabulously beautiful self.
And Santamaria Yusuke moved heaven and earth to cram a little humor and humanity into this thing -- (with no help from the writers, I might add).
But until last night I couldn't get past Masakazu Tamura's performance. I mean, the guy just annoys me, and I couldn't buy him in this role at all. Tamura as a High School Basketball Coach? Yeah, right!
That is until I remembered the scene from the French comedy "La Cage Aux Folles" (The American remake was called, The Bird Cage") where Renato tried to teach his Drag Queen Wife, Albin how to act macho.
Once I started thinking of Ozu (Tamura) as Albin, trying to act macho, the whole series turned on its head for me. It became fun.
I know. That's not much of a recommendation for a series. But I really like a lot of the supporting players in this series so I'm glad that I found a way to enjoy what's left of it. _________________
