Just finished Ai no Uta. It was pretty good, maudlin at times, but I guess that's to be expected considering the subject matter. Miho Kanno, she of the hundred different facial expressions, did a good job in her role, as did Emi Wakui in the stereotypical sidekick role. The three child actors, I thought, also did a pretty good job with their lines and emotions; the daughter was played by the same talented little girl who was in the Hotman series. It's not the best family dorama I've seen, but it's certainly watchable and kept my interest even though it's pretty easy to figure out the outcome from very early on in the series. BTW, I've never heard "eh?" spoken so much in a series as it was here.

Abe Hiroshi is a pretty funny actor
I just recently finished Dragon Sakura with him in it and he was pretty good in that one too.
"pretty funny"? My friend, have you watched the TRICK series with him and Nakama Yukie? That's how I was introduced to the funny actor that is Abe Hiroshi. I swear, everytime I see him, I have this nagging voice at the back of my head that says "Oy, Ueta" (Yukie's character calling Abe's character)

I love that show.
Yep, Trick was hilarious - that's the first series I saw him in too. Though I originally watched that cuz of Nakama Yukie Namase Katsuhisa surprised me with his appearance in it (this was just after I had watched Gokusen). Can't wait til the Trick movie comes out this year! More Hiroshi and Yukie =)

wow, fourth time!, you must really really love it, and memorized the dialogue by now.
Im showing it to a friend who is a drama newbie. She watches one whenever she comes down to visit.
And Ive only seen it half of it with the good subs so far. Id only seen it with the just adequate translation before. Makes a big difference.
Halu & Aki are even more charming when they speak with decent grammar. _________________
