that's a very apt comment, and i wholeheartedly agree with the substance. i even mentioned before that this dorama is merely a vehicle to capitalize on satomi ishihara's fame and beauty but there is very little else invested in it to make it a great dorama. lacking in several dimensions.
i haven't yet watched it, but maybe the storyline just wasn't deep enough, i mean if the manga was good, and they followed it, the drama should have attracted more viewers...

basically there was no story...and the host of characters were hardly engaging. it wasn't so much that the performances were bad...they were non-existent - vacant and absent.
this wasn't a good dorama. to be honest, it was quite boring...i merely finished it because i didn't want to cut short yet another drama and leave it unfinished. perhaps, i should have reconsidered that decision.
in fact, many doramas are based on mangas but that doesn't insure success.

probably should have added some AV starlets to the cast then. for more nurse moe.
it would have been more exciting to be sure....satomi ishihara was the only character of any remarkable beauty in the entire show. this dorama was built around her but it actually crumbles around her, truth be told.

i scanned parts of it, after finishing d/l'ing it, and watching cute satomi was good, other than that, the j-drama did not seem to captivate my attention, as i never got around to watching it yet....maybe eventually. I think the new wave of j-dramas are more interesting.
on-screen chemistry is critical for any j-drama for it to be successful, and of course if the story is empty, then the j-drama will show weak ratings.

yeah a hardcore pornstar such as her might have helped the ratings...and the story.
I dont think it would've helped to have her in the cast.
i've already seen Sola Aoi's nurse dorama, the acting wasn't good, and the story was also non-existent.

interestingly enough this IS part of the recent batch of doramas...it was released this year.
the show has structural defects...satomi ishihara isn't enough to carry this dorama. not hardly. i doubt anybody could...if somebody with better acting skills were offered this part, i doubt they would accept it.

lol. i'm sure. it must be right up there with traci lords' remarkable body of sophisticated acting.

did traci lords do a dorama where she falls in love with a patient, and while she's taking him upstairs for a sponge bath, armageddon occurs outside, and they're the only ones left on earth, and they have to try and repopulate the world, but an evil power prevents them from acheiving that goal, but they keep trying and trying anyway?

no her body of work isn't THAT sophisticated...you're talking about actually having a plot...i didn't know we were talking about masterpiece theater...mah bad.
Alrite, hope i'll get to finish more of egao no hosoku this weekend and hopefully start Ohsama no Resutoran or Shota no Sushi
Yamaguchi Tomoko (after that great performance in Long Vacation, can't wait to see her again) and Kashiwabara Takashi are both pretty fun actors/actresses
and of course, Takeuchi Yuko and Abe Hiroshi _________________

so back on track, haveyou seen Shota no Sushi? i'd like to hear your thoughts.
sorry, i missed the second half of your post...i haven't seen this dorama yet...i made a few aborted attempts to download it many moons ago but i never zealously tried to take it in thereafter. i saw like part of the first episode but dat about it....food doramas are hit or miss in my opinion because they often try to use the food as a lure and substitute for good acting and good storytelling.
