I think there was one, but it got locked because most of them weren't involved in any dramas....

That's the reason that was given.

Maybe there is one still...in the General Discussion??? I'm not 100% sure
but i remember there were some threads for some gravure idols

They're there, but locked. To be honest, those threads were one of the earliest threads I read (along with the Rina thread) long before I signed up.

Okay, I've watched 5 episodes of

Busu no Hitomi Koishiteru "Falling in Love in the Eyes of an Ugly Girl" (because that's how many have been soft subbed) and I have to say... WHAT A FREAKIN' DISAPPOINTMENT!

What has it got going for it?

1) The video quality that's up at d-addicts is gorgeous.

2) The fan subbers doing the soft subs are terrific.

3) Yuri Ebihara

4) Megumi

What's the problem?

In short, the show just doesn't work.

It's the story of a top comedy writer for variety shows who falls in love with a hideously ugly woman who just happens to be wildly funny.

Ignore the fact that it's impossible to believe Goro as a variety show comedy writer and get right to the problem. The show hinges on the fact that Murakami Tomoko (the ugly girl) is supposed to be the funniest woman since Imogene Coca.

She ain't.

She's sad. She's fat. She's pathetic. They even allow her to seem nice.

But she ain't funny. They give her nothing funny to do.

In this show, she's funny only in the sense that she's fat, and a-holes in junior high might point at her and laugh.

I don't know. Maybe it's cultural and I just don't get Japanese comedy. But to be honest... the mean spirited attitudes of most of the people in this show made me dislike the characters. And it's tough to root for the love story when you think the main characters are a drab, pathetic, bore... and a mean spirited creep.

Add to that the fact that Yuri Ebihara only gets about 30 seconds of screen time per episode, and Megumi only gets about 90 seconds... and it's tough to come up with a reason to watch... other than I already downloaded a bunch of episodes.

I'm planning on giving the rest of it a pass.

Ebihara is gorgeous. And from what I've seen of her in "Slow Dance" and "Busu" and "Salaryman" I think she's got a good enough sense of humor about her own public image that they could turn her into a pretty good character in a better show.

But Busu ain't it.
