I agree.
It's like the original TV show: not one continuous story (other than the underlying human-witch story), but a lot of individual stories... A problem with adapting something from TV, I guess.

Is this English subbed yet?
We're watching Toshiie still. Only 5 eps to go....
And on ep 5 of BEach Boys. Nothing like a Japanese Beach Holiday!!

Only about one episode and a half.
We'll be going into the second decade of the 21st century before it gets done.

Jap is a term we don't use here since its an offensive word.
Please refrain from using it in future posts. _________________

I'll never understand Abe Hiroshi's hearthrob status (he just looks average to me), but he is super actor, if this drama's anything to go by.
He's brilliant at giving these scornful looks, and looking awkward.
He really makes you want to know what makes his character the way it is. |
Well the man is in his 40s.....but he's a magnificent actor _________________

Here's the thread where all recommendations on Japanese dramas are made.
You can post into more details on what kind of genre you're interested in as well as actors and actresses you like and want to see more of them. _________________

Re: "Dari Yori mo Mama wo Aisu"
I really enjoyed it. But you should know up front, I'm a huge Yuki Uchida fan so I was biased going in. And I'm a sucker for the Renzoku shows. They're comfort food for me. So they were gonna have to do something really bad for me to say anything other than I liked it.
I liked it.
This one was a bit more " high concept" than most of the others. A renzoku focuses on a particular family and follows their trials and tribulations.
"Dare..." wanted to take all the stereo types of the members of an ordinary Japanese family... and turn them on their ear.
Dad is a stay at home house husband. Mom doesn't cook and clean, she's a lawyer. Their children don't seem to fit into the classic roles.
As with all Renzoku's, if you like... if you care about the people by the 3rd episode, you'll like the show. If not... the story probably doesn't have enough depth to carry it on it's own.
By the way... the next door neighbor, Kobayashi Satomi pretty much steals the show. _________________ Manga is to Literature

LOL! Yesh, but only HE could play Shinoda Natsuo. I still think he plays the best character I have yet seen!

Men in their 40s are way sexier than men in their 20s.

Thank you so much for this! I think I'll enjoy it. I enjoy family-related dramas. I'll let you know what I think when I get started. _________________
