All done!!!!

I was a little disappointed that

but I do think they justified her remaining the way she was very nicely.

This drama was really great and B-san has been successful in converting me into a Ryoko fan. She was marvelous! Her facial expressions were priceless and dang, that girl is gorgeous.

Other than the lame-o lead character, the only other thing I didn't like was that

I mean, this isn't exactly sending out a grand message.

Regardless, a fun drama was a wicked lead female and a verra cunning antagonist (Manami).

You know, Manami has never really played what I would call a "Biiaatch" which I would like to see sometime.

She was great in SB. I've only seen her in this and in Orange Days, and her characters are somewhat "similar". So I'm with you, I'd like to see her in a different role.

I think that's because of the tendency they have for "type casting" which applies not just to Manami but almost all actors in Japan. Ryoko has done the "other woman" part to death, although in her latest drama "Fushin no Toki" she's playing the wife that's gets cheated on for a change.

Yea I've noticed that! It's a lil' frustrating, but it's always a nice surprise when you do see your favourites in a different role. Shiina Kippei was lucky he got to play opposite Manami and Ryoko. They saved him.

I wasn't surprised. Though, I thought otherwise until the last minute.

As I've said time and time again, it's one of her best and most versatile roles... I think her more recent stuff has her being too serious all the time and doesn't give her a chance to cut loose.

I agree, but it is a painful reality.

My brother saw the opening to SB when Ryoko is wearing the yellow skirt suit and is now begging to watch the show. Boys. Shake Head

The average warm blooded male, it seems.

I'm debating on making a Ryoko signature.

Him too? Naughty

Have you seen Matria (something or other) family yet? Another side of Ryoko's talent.

I'm really becoming a Yonekura Ryoko fan. That is a crisis for me. As you know Kuninaka Ryoko is my number one artist. Now I have a clash.
What to do? Doh!
Oh well, I guess I'm big enough to handle two fine stars at once. Twisted

LOL! Ralph, yer such a mac! glomp Ya know, I find it really sad that I'm more a fan of female J-artists than I am of males. And it's not about looks. It's about talent. The girls seem to way overpower the boys. Or mebbe I need more exposure... Head Scratch

You are not alone. My NY email pal Harriet has come away with the same respect for Japanese female actors; especially Norika Fujiwara, Ayase Haruka, Nakashima Mika, Chizuru Ikewaki and now Yonekura Ryoko all of whom I adore. Sadly she has not seen the light regarding Kuninaka Ryoko Shameful Cry

The Churasan forum on Japan Question site also find the females more entrancing.

I hope one day you will see Star No Koi with Norika Fujiwara... oy what a performance of romance and beauty. w00t!

That's 'cause most of the male "stars" are nothing more than J-pop pretty boys with questionable talent... They're the bimbos (mimbos??) of the J-Drama world. hehe

Mimbos! Such a great word! LOL!

Yea, I know what you mean. I took my vote off of YamaP so I could vote for Ryoko-san. And even tho I adore YamaP in Nobuta wo Produce, he's no competition for the uber talented Ryoko.
