I think this year's parade will be remembered for the KAT-TUN mob. It was a very dangerous situation and their car didn't even complete the parade route. Shake Head

I don't know if any other J-Dorama fans are into Taiko, but there is a big Taiko event this Sunday(23rd) in Little Tokyo as part of Nisei Week. Applaud

Taiko fan here!!

In past years I've seen the various colleges (UCLA, UCI, USC, etc.) and local JACL Taiko groups play during Nisei Week... Great stuff. Thumbsup

BTW, the 23rd is a Tuesday. I think you mean the 21st. Smile

No problem. I fully understand the disorientation caused by beautiful women.

Glad you weren't driving or operating heavy machinery. Could've been tragic. Wink

UCLA was there, it didn't seem like they are as good as they were last year.

I saw the UCLA taiko group perform about four or five years ago, and they were pretty good then. On the West Coast, I think San Jose Taiko and Zendeko Taiko (from LA) are considered among the premier taiko groups in this region. Many years ago I saw Ondeko-za perform (a few years later members of that troupe broke away and formed Kodo). Awesome performance.

I was hanging out at AX yesterday before the Hyde show. From what people have told me, despite the big name guests, this year's AX was not as good as last year. I expected it to be a mass of people, but by 5 PM, the area between the CC and Hilton was fairly dead.

Nisei Week is fun. I usually go for both days of the opening weekend for the Anime Festival and parade. I was in Little Tokyo last weekend and there's a lot of apartment construction going on. Hopefully that will make Little Tokyo a little more vibrant than it is now.

No. I know somebody who is helping to organize the Anime Festival. Little Tokyo Shopping Center is where Mitsuwa is. It's not going to be in Weller Court this year.
