Is it true that gaijins (foreigners) are not welcome to japan?
What about a city like Tokyo aren't the people there more open minded?

I've been to Japan on many occasions but i'm ethnically Asian so I can't say first hand but I have many Caucasian friends who went to Japan and told me that the Japanese are the most helpful people in the world. One particular friend told me that when he looked lost in a train station, many Japanese approached him offering assistance. He said he never gets this kind of positive treatment in say New York. On the other hand, I think Asian foreigners are treated differently.

That's what I heard as well ! Some say that the japanese are very helpfull and others say that they are being ignored! But I think it's that way in every country! I aslo think that Tokyo is a little more international than for example the country side.

Gaijin is accepted in certain level.................for example Japan parent prefer their kid to married also with Japanese

From what I know of japan and what friends have said, the japanese are really helpfull.

If you do not offend them, then most japanese are very willing to help, or talk to you. In fact many japanese will try to have a conversation with gaijin - they are interested in what gaijin think of japan and why they are there.

You will get some people that are not very helpfull but they are the minority

After all, many aspects of japan are influenced by Gaijin

I think that's a very difficult question, cause you can ask it the other way around too. Whether Japanese Men like Western Women, so it's really hard to generalize everything, I would say it really depends on the person what he/she likes.

I agree but most of the older generation not all include my own parent wants their kids to marry within their own race. I think it human nature no matter what ethnicity you are. But my generation could care less we marry whoever we want whether they are purple, pink or whatever. Love overcome all obstacles so am sure Bsalez could hook up with some japanese lady even if her parent disapproved .

But I must give my two cents as well from my own experiences. I've lived in Japan for about two years and ussually chat up on the www.fuckedgaijin.com boards also. The people on those boards are all foriegners living in Japan as well and basically there seems to be a general consensus on these few ideas about those foriegners that are in Japan:

Most japanese consider all foriegners as being American. Doesn't matter where you come from, to the Japanese your American. This applies to those foriegners of non asian decent.

Black people in Japan, are ussually African (like straight outta africa no african-americans here)who pretend to be Black Americans because to many Japanese American Blacks are cool. Meaning, what they see on MTV blah blah.

The shady Turkish/middle eastern guys that line the side streets in Shibuya and big cities ussualy deal in drugs, and all those other underwordly things.

If your white, have blonde hair and blue eyes your their "Picture Perfect Foriegner". Meaning when Japanese think of foriegn they think of Brad Pitt/Leanardo Decaprio or any other person that fits those 3 criteria.

Japanese seem to be pretty darn ignorant when it comes to realizing that not all white people come from America. And that you don't have to be White to be American. (Which seems to be my case being Puerto Rican with dark skin )

In Japan dating out of your race is generally frowned upon, they like to keep things "within the blood." There is even a special word for it, but of course I forgot.

The Japanese keep control of their foriegners by putting them all in one place......can anyone guess where that is? "ROPPONGI" (wouldn't want all those foriegn devils running amok through the whole country)

I heard it as well, that foreigners never could be a part of their society, even if they lived in Japan for over 30 years of something! But on the other hand they are very curious about foreigners in their country!!!
But I think that's typical for a lot of countries! I rather not be a part of their society but treated nice, than to be a total outcast and be hated by the countries members!!!!

ALL I KNOW IS THAT THEY HAVE GOOD DRAMAS! : )

Roppongi is located in the heart of Tokyo. All the foriegn embassy's are in that area as well as many foriegn shops and restaraunts. It is also where all the seedy bars and clubs are at as well. Thats what keeps all the foriegners in that area, and all the Japanese that love foriegners go there as well.

Recently though Roppongi has had a major facelift and they built a shopping area around there called Roppongi hills. Lots of upper eschelon stores etc, really expensive. Cleaned up the area a bit too...

Oh and BTW, www.fuckedgaijin.com isn't like a porno site or some dirty site. Its just a site where foriegners living on japan comment and post news articles relating to life and living for foriegners in Japan. It really is a great site, funny stuff on there too.

As for what they consider me in Japan.....hrmm... Most of the time they mistake me for being Brazillian. There are are huge amount of Brazillians and people from Peru living in Japan because of the need Japan had for cheap labor in its car factories etc... Alot of second and third generation Brazillians that are of Japanese decent too... That one always trips me out when I run into a Japanese person or what I thought was a Japanese person and then they start speaking Portuguese to me, WTF?!?!
