Has anyone heard (or have seen) the Matsu Takako dorama - The Poet? Miyake Ken plays his brother/admirer (yeah, it seems screwed up, but I want to see it, Smile ).

Aree....?? I've never heard of it! The one where Ken Miyake plays Matsu's brother, I've heard is only Akarui Hou E, also starring are Atsuro Watanabe & Miho Kanno...is that it? The one that sets on the 1920s-30s era?

If not, can u provide more infos on this The Poet drama?? What production year is it?

I bought the VCDs today for THE POET. It is quite a short drama (pretty much under 3 hours), but the story it is based on is very moving.

BRIEF PLOTS
A talented young poet (Matsu Takako) excels in writing fairy tale poems. Her devotion was encouraged by her cousin (who is actually her real younger brother, but due to circumstances, it is not known to him). They fall in love, but nothing can result from the relationship, due to their blood connection. For the sake of the brother, she marries a shop clerk her stepfather recommended and hence began a miserable life of boredom, hardship, sadness, and at the end illness. Her husband's mistress gave him STD which, in turn, was transferred to her (Matsu). After a long time of enduring pain and suffering, they finally separated. Illness, sadness, and a forever unachievable love made her end her life. This is the ending of the fairy tale poet; this was her brief life.

THOUGHTS
This is based on such a tragic but poetic story. I wish it was flashed out more in a longer drama seres (perhaps 10 episodes), so that it can take time to develop all the moving moments. Instead, now they are just rushed through. This is a good story; however, it is on fastforward mode.

As a bonus for buying the VCD set, I got the Nobunaga movie with KimuTaku. Haven't watched it yet. Don't know how good it is going to be.
