EDIT: I just noticed that ADC has it available for download.
You've probably already seen this one from Masumura, Giants and Toys, if not it's from 1958, think it was even better than Black Test Car. Nishi is an advertising executive for a caramel company that is planning to launch a new product, in fierce competition with two other companies. His boss builds up Kyoko, a vivacious girl with bad teeth, as their mascot. Kyoko is smitten with Nishi when he is assigned to look after her. Meanwhile Nishi is trying to extract information about his competitors advertising campaigns, from his girlfriend, who works for one rival, and his old college friend, who works for the other rival company. _________________

Mon, August 23, 2010 (11:05am EDT)
The manga "Hoshi Mamoru Inu" will become a live-action film, directed by Tokiyuki Takimoto. The movie depicts the close bond between a middle-aged man, played by veteran actor Toshiyuki Nishida, and his dog, an Akita Inu named Happy.
The story starts with the discovery of the remains of the unidentified man and the dog in the mountains. An examination reveals that the man has been dead for half a year, but the dog passed away only one month ago. A young civil servant (Tetsuji Tamayama) decides to explore the matter further, and he ultimately learns about the lives of the two during the past few years, including their final trip together.
Umika Kawashima, Kimiko Yo, Kayoko Kishimoto, Tatsuya Fuji, and Tomokazu Miura have also been cast. Toho will distribute the film in theaters nationwide in summer 2011.

I'm leaning towards merging, but I wish we had some more opinions...
Here's my .02, I'd say merge it, otherwise you'll have "Best Japanese comedy" thread, "Best Japanese War movie" thread, "Best Japanese movie without an SMAP member" thread, etc.

Watched Amalfi: Megami no Hoshu with Oda Yuji and Amami Yuki. It was decent. Kind of hard to maintain the suspense when they give away who the bad guy is with 45 minutes to go though.

Noriyuki Higashiyama stars as samurai in "Ogawa no Hotori" film
Wed, September 1, 2010 (8:40pm EDT)
Shonentai's Noriyuki Higashiyama will star in a new movie called "Ogawa no Hotori." The film is being directed by Tetsuo Shinohara, who last worked with Higashiyama in the award-winning 2008 film "Yamazakura."
Like "Yamazakura," "Ogawa no Hotori" is based on a story by well-known author Shuhei Fujisawa. Higashiyama plays the part of a samurai in the fictional Unasaka clan (the clan appears in many of Fujisawa's works). For the climax scene, it is said that Higashiyama will undergo intense physical training.
Higashiyama's support cast consists of Ryo Katsuji, Ainosuke Kataoka, Machiko Ono, Chieko Matsubara, Takashi Sasano, Tokuma Nishioka, and Tatsuya Fuji. Theatrical release is scheduled for early summer 2011.

Takashi Shimizu's next 3D film is "Rabbit Horror"
Sat, September 4, 2010 (11:53pm EDT)
Horror director Takashi Shimizu is already working on his next 3D picture, it has been learned. Last year, he created "The Shock Labyrinth 3D," Asia's first 3D film. He has reunited the staff from that movie for "[[Rabbit Horror 3D," starring Hikari Mitsushima.
The film is being shot by cinematographer Christopher Doyle, using Panasonic's dual-lens AG-3DA1 camera. The story's concept appears to have taken some inspiration from "Alice in Wonderland," as it revolves around a stuffed rabbit and an alternate world. In the film, Mitsushima's younger brother has received the rabbit, and night after night he is beckoned to that mysterious world. The wary Mitsushima aims to unravel the secret behind the rabbit, though her father ultimately informs of her of a shocking truth.
Mitsushima's supporting cast includes Teruyuki Kagawa, Nao Omori, and Tamaki Ogawa. Filming is already expected to wrap up on September 8, as Shimizu will be headed to the Venice Film Festival next day. Last week, it was announced that Shimizu is heading the jury of the festival's 3D competition. However, he also plans to show a few minutes of footage from "Rabbit Horror 3D" at the event.
