I don't particularly like him acting in HK movies except for Chungking Express, Lavender and Turn Left Turn Right. Don't know why though.. |
I prefer him acting in japanese movie... but I also have this feelings that I want to have all his movies.... for example... I downloaded chungking express and fallen angels at d-addict before... but until now... I only watch fallen angel (only cd1)
it is because I'm not a fan of hkmovie and chinese movie...
the only one I watched and liked is turn left turn right ... even lavender is not my cup of tea
and now I'm really waiting for the download to complete... and I don't know if I'll watch it right after... or just keep it in my drawer maybe there is exception cos takeshi is so handsome in this and he had long hair ( I don't like him with short hair)
and vibius... I saw cd1 of fallen angel and yes! he is very funny when forcing ppl to do things.... I don't know when I'll finish it

chungking express was kind of weird.. especially the second part of the movie with faye wong. |
Going by the ones my friend has (there're probably more):
Anna Magdalena
China Dragon
Dr. Wai - The Scripture With No Words
Fallen Angels
Lavender
Mermaid Got Married
No Sir!
The Odd One Dies
Too Tired To Die
Young Policeman in Love
You probably saw Too Tired To Die though....isn't that a kicker with him speaking English the whole time? And 2 people from the Sopranos are in it, LOL. It was a little strange but it was ok, I guess. There were some funny parts but I don't know if they were supposed to be funny or maybe I'm just a retard that laughs at everything But woo hoo! Engrish! Well, after watching it a second time, his English is actually decent I wanna see Dr. Wai though....Jet Li is in it

It's incredible. Not the plot or anything, but he's hot in it and speaks English the entire time. It's. SO. CUTE. Mira Sorvino is in it too (from Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, Summer of Sam, Replacement Killers, and Mimic). The director is Wonsuk Chin, but the movie is all in English, takes place in NYC, and has pretty much all American actors in it.
For Sopranos fans: The lady who plays Janice Soprano is in it, minor role as a palm reader. The guy who plays Chris Moltisanti (Tony's "nephew") is in it as Takeshi's friend, with a bad Italian accent.
Summary of TTTD, possible spoiler. Highlight dark blue text to be able to see it.

Takeshi plays Kenji, a Japanese guy living in NYC alone. He has no job and is broke. One morning he wakes up after having a strange dream with a distinct woman in it. He has no idea who she is. He's woken up by a phone call from his mom from Japan. He then proceeds on with his day as normal. A strange event happens on the street that has to do with this woman, on his way to meet a friend. It's a strange day indeed. Later, he has an experience like a dream where he talks to this woman. She came to visit him while he was sleeping and woke him up, but it was much like his dream. She tells him he has 12 hours until his death and that she'll be back at that time to pick him up (She is Death/Grim Reaper). She said she did this as a favor because he helped her, so that he has 12 hours to go do anything he ever wanted to do.....

End of spoiler.
It's not that old (1998) so it should be that hard to find. It was a bit of a weird movie, but who cares? Takeshi is hot in it and he speaks English the whole 90 or so minutes! I have no idea if this is out of print, but I could only find it on VCD. Amazon has been listing DVD and VHS as out of stock for the past 2 years, LOL. I didn't care that it was on VCD, it's SO worth it.

Yeah, I never promised the plot was great, it was a bit weird. But wasn't the abundance of Engrish awesome?

Ooooo yeah
Actually I don't think his English is bad. I don't think his Japanese is bad either. Someone who speaks that many languages gets my full props.
Remember the part with the hooker????

His english is not engrish and I considered it good and clear. I've heard him speaking English in another movie other than Too Tired Too Die, i.e Chungking Express, Turn Left Turn Right and Kamisama ..
Yup, I really do admire his ability in language skill..Phew..hot guy with
brain.
The hooker...o yeah..

It is pretty clear. I didn't watch Chungking yet and I don't have TLTR, but in TTTD his English was the best I have heard him. It was a bit Engrishy in Kamisama from what I remember, but still pretty good considering he speaks more than 2 languages! God I want him even more!
Oh god, the hooker. Hehehehe. "Forget about the f*ck I just wanna talk"....no wonder she was mad. I'd rather do him than talk. (oops, did I say that?)

Hey, I know about 30+ (computer) languages!
You can all start forming a line now.
What?! Computer languages don't count!?
Who wrote that rule?
I was robbed!

Yep, that's the one I remember. Pretty Engrishy from what I remember. But still decent I guess.
