Well there was a real scary mess up when a Korean group appeared. The way the Expo people allotted the tickets was not very clever and people were dashing madly to get into the building etc. Very hot weather and people fainting and a few injuries it seems. I think they got scared that the same thing would happen with SMAP. I think it was a good idea for them to cancel the show. SMAP and JE did not know until they were informed from Shanghai apparently.
People have been making plane and hotel reservations and to be told just a week before is not too helpful.
I'll wait for the concerts in Japan and get the DVD as I always do and there will surely be videos on the internet. I'm still enjoying Kimura and his 'STYLE' solo from the last concert. It's such a great tune with a great beat.

the organizer should have been more prepared for everything since it's a world expo I think.
I feel sorry both for SMAP and Smappies who had made preparation for the concert, but I don't want anything bad happen during the concert that will lead to negative impact to SMAP. So yeah, I agree that this is for the best.
I'm not gonna make it for the Japan concert this year, but I'll buy the dvd for sure _________________

SMAP secretly filmed for mystery drama special
The five members of SMAP will appear together in a television drama for the first time in approximately six years. The drama is a special titled "Doku Tomato Satsujin Jiken," said to be the industry's first "candid-camera drama" - much of it was filmed during taping for a variety show without SMAP's knowledge.
The variety show involved was the now-annual TV Asahi special "SMAP Ganbarimasu!!" On the show, the five members took on various challenges: Masahiro Nakai played a survival "onigokko" game on a remote island for 12 hours, Takuya Kimura ate only tomatoes for three days, Goro Inagaki sang at karaoke until he achieved a score of 100, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi climbed all of the hills in the Meguro ward within 24 hours, and Shingo Katori lived a Jomon period lifestyle for an entire day.
During the taping for the show, which aired on January 10, scenes for the drama were secretly filmed. Actor Sei Hiraizumi, playing a police detective, visited each of the SMAP members' locations without them noticing.
"Doku Tomato Satsujin Jiken" revolves around a fictional variety show called "SMAP Sekai no Yasai wo Kurau." The show's host, announcer Yoko Oshita, dies in her own home after eating a poisoned tomato, which came from the set of the show. The detective played by Hiraizumi takes on the case, searching for the SMAP member responsible for the crime. While the drama is a mystery, it naturally incorporates elements of comedy as well.
TV Asahi plans to broadcast the drama on July 1 at 7:57pm.

SMAP gets their own magazine
Mon, June 28, 2010 (7:35pm EDT)
SMAP is getting its own special one-time magazine issue, currently titled "Super-fashion & Music Assemble Photo-magazine" (abbreviated as SMAP). The issue will be jointly edited by the magazine houses of popeye and anan, with a target release date of August 25.
SMAP will fill the pages of the entire magazine, which is planned to be roughly 140 pages in length. This is the first time they have undertaken such a project.
One of the highlights of the magazine is that it includes conversations between SMAP members and other well-known celebrities. For example, Goro Inagaki spoke with manga artist Naoki Urasawa, while Shingo Katori spoke with fashion designer Tom Brown. Other features of the magazine include a special essay by author Mariko Hayashi, previously unpublished off-shot photos of SMAP (some as old as ten years ago), a survey-based ranking of SMAP's songs, and various topics such as date fashion.

SMAP schedules Shanghai Stadium shows
Sun, August 1, 2010 (7:51pm EDT)
SMAP has announced at their Sapporo Dome concert that they will be going to Shanghai after all. They have scheduled concerts at Shanghai Stadium on October 9 and 10, which will be their first overseas performances.
SMAP was originally expected to perform at the Shanghai World Expo on June 13, but the event was canceled by the Expo organizers due to poor planning and concerns about safety. At the time of the cancellation, SMAP apologized to their fans but indicated that they hoped to have another opportunity to perform in China. Because the Shanghai World Expo concert was canceled just a week before the event, SMAP had already begun rehearsals, including practicing greetings in Chinese.
However, the Shanghai Stadium concerts were not scheduled to make up for the canceled show. It is reported that SMAP was originally planning the concerts at the same time that preparations for the World Expo were under way.
Shanghai Stadium is one of the largest stadiums in China, with a maximum seating capacity of about 80,000 people. It appears that SMAP is planning to have only about 40,000 fans at each concert, for a total of 80,000 over the two days.

Wonder why. I suppose it's because in case of a stampede, getting crushed underfoot by 40,000 screaming fans would pose a considerably lower security risk than, um, getting crushed underfoot by 80,000 screaming fans?

I was planning to watch the Shanghai concert, but apparently the plane ticket is not much different from that of Japan It's easier to get the concert ticket though, but that darn expensive plane ticket still hoping for cheap tickets though
cannot afford Japan this year

Me too me too!!! I'm listening to it right now!!! At work!!! Last week I got to DL the bonus PVs from the single, and I found myself humming random snatches of "This Is Love" and "Love and Peace Inside" all week. Catchy songs, those two.
(SMAP perched on that twirling globe-shaped jungle gym = is lubbb. I wanted to be INSIDE the globe so bad, lolz )
Hey qnuy, let's pinkie-swear to save up for SMAP's next tour, yesss? So that's two years away, yesss? (Holy moly, Kimura will be 40 then! ) It's a date, yesss? I HAVE to see SMAP in the flesh before they retire, I have to I have to!!!

SMAP's Shanghai concerts in danger
Mon, September 20, 2010 (1:08pm EDT)
Kyodo News is reporting that SMAP's concerts at Shanghai Stadium on October 9-10 may get canceled due to an escalating incident between China and Japan. Ticket sales for the shows have reportedly been suspended already due to the high likelihood of cancellation.
Last month, Japanese officers arrested a Chinese fishing boat captain on charges that he deliberately rammed his boat into a Japanese patrol boat. He is currently being detained by a Japanese court despite Chinese opposition, leading to strained relations between the two countries. On Monday, China took moves to suspend much of its political communications with Japan, and there have been reports of other measures being taken on a commercial level.
With the matter currently unresolved, holding the SMAP concerts in Shanghai may prove to be impossible. As a result, organizers are apparently putting the concerts on hold for the time being.
SMAP was originally scheduled to perform their first China concert at the Shanghai World Expo on June 13, but that was canceled by organizers due to safety concerns.

Hope it is resolved. SMAP have been working so hard to get ready for Chinese event. Maybe the moon is in the wrong place. It has been chasing Venus all across the night sky this month but never catching it. Lots of irritating these happening in the world.
