God, do people hate smokers that much? |
I suppose it's sad but true. But some anti-smokers aren't mature enough to distinguish between their dislike for smoke and the people who choose to smoke. Incivility isn't going to help anything, it's just a way of lashing out. But that's just human nature, and I don't see it just on the part of non-smokers. It seems to me rudeness is on the rise everywhere.
I remember I was in Australia once, eating dinner in a restaurant with some friends. I guess in Oz they do not have separate non-smoking sections, and at the next table , after she finished eating, a young woman took out her cigarette for a smoke. I asked her very politely if she would wait til she was outside to do that. She was totally flabbergasted! I guess in Australia, it's taken as a given that you can light up anywhere? I don't know. Well she held off for a couple minutes, out of shock, perhaps, but then she lit up anyway and wouldn't look at me. It was kind of funny actually. After dinner the people I was with all thanked me for asking her not to smoke. I guess they all would never have spoken up for themselves in a situation like that. Not me! I always say what I want. As long as it's said with a smile, you can say almost anything

I tell them: smokers die earlier, so you guys must be happy and have nothing to complain. All the tax on cigarettes goes to the government, so we help support the economy too |
Of course our tax money goes to the smokers additional health care. And our health insurance costs are higher too.
Of course, very overweight people are also an additional cost to the rest of us.
Its tough being fit and smokefree. _________________

yeah but they also need to teach ppl to respect another's way of life...i mean if a guy is smokin' a cigarette you're going to get up all in his face instead of just movin' on....some ppl feel like imposing their value system in many cases despite the fact that the other party is doing nothing particularly onerous....
EDIT:
by the way i agree....people need to chill out tho.....not enough respect for one's fellow man and woman...we live in a world with an increasing propensity of violence disrespect and indignity.
i mean the guy is smokin' a cig...and you expect him not to spit venom back in your face after hurling an insult at him?????
tell that bitch to go to japan and then start complaining about the cigarette smoke..HAHA...he'd never leave the airport....

Gotta admit that was pretty bold on both sides, but this is Hawaii we're talkin' about... If it were here in L.A. someone would be hurting big time or dead... Hard to believe, but a fact nowadays.

I wouldn't think it would be that tough.

personnally ..... no i don't find it hard to find a single non-smoking guy .... i find it hard to actually find someone special .if you see what i mean ...there sure is .. it's just that sometimes i'm too shy to ask a guy out ..and until now i feel really nervous when i'm with someone that i really really like .... that's why some get to think that i don't like them ..
and then they don't dare to ask me out .unless someone i know tells them that i do like them ..... and generally i get mad at those ppl ( even if they are my friends , i guess they shouldn't tell the guy instead of letting me do it )

in agreement with the part about hard finding someone special. yeah same here, if i like someone i don't want other people to tell. i want to be the one to tell or vice versa.
